I don't do much now but used to set them in zig zag, it stops the rabbits turning off the net. I'd put them close to the bury too. The last thing you want is a dog a full speed after a rabbit hitting the net with it, that happens enough as it is lol

Both dogs have proven to be handy for me so hopefully they may turn out to be useful. They won't be short on drive I don't think

I've just put my jrtxwhippet over my patterdalexspringer. I'm not sure the pups, if the mating even takes, can really be called lurchers but I'm hoping for some fast and driven mooching dogs. The russellwhippet is 13 now and is probably the best dog I've owned, I've wanted to breed from him for a long time, so long in fact that I may have left it too late. I was originally thinking of a whippet bitch but circumstances ment that never happened so I took the opportunity with the bushing dog. We shall see that happens . . . .

It shot perfectly yesterday, although I didn't lol. It doesnt seem to be so bad with other cartridges but i think I will still take it back to the gun shop it came from and see if they can do anything to tighten it up

I got her wellies and a drill, she got me a new over and under. Everyone's a winner!

He probably is in person but he's not coming across great on here is he?
-
Just ignore him, he thrives on the attention. Without it he's just sat there mumbling curse words to himself

I will give it another go tomorrow and let you all know how I get on. Cheers or all the advice

It was a pain, we managed it in the end with a leatherman and a hazel stick. These are clear pigeon I think, they do have small caps. I'm using it tomorrow with a few different mates so I'll experiment with a few other brands. If it persists I'll go get the calipers and have a measure up of chambers and cartridges. If I can resolve it with a change of ammo brand that would be good. It's heartening to know that yours did it once and didn't repeat it

Sorry, I obviously suck at explaining this lol. It ejects shot cartridges fine but when the unshot carts are in it, when it's over your arm open for instance, if you jiggle it in a particular way or touch the cartridge in the top barrel it slips past the ejector into the breech. You then can't close the gun as the ejector can't seat properly with the cartridge in the way. The cartridge won't come out either without mangling it with a leatherman. It doesn't do it all the time but as its new to me I'd rather it worked all the time. It's also the first gun that wife's bought for me and we went th

Not sure, it's just out the shop so I've not cleaned it. I'll give it a good going over and then try it again. The ejector works fine after the shot, it's when an unshot cartridge is sat in the breech on the ejector that the issue occurs. If it does it again I'll take some pics

My wife bought me a new shotgun for Christmas, it's a nice gun and I took it out for a wander this afternoon in advance of using it on boxing day. It shot well enough but a cartridge somehow got past the ejector and wouldn't allow it to close. I managed to get it out but the ejector seems loose compared to the lower barrel one. Can it be adjusted or does it write the gun off? I will return the gun to the shop but i quite like it and it's a shame as it fits well. Any thoughts?

You got any pictures and details of the stud? I don't have a particular stud in mind, just traits that i would like to see. If it's a dog you know and you think it ticks the boxes then that might be a good bet

Small holding - where to start???

I want to say a massive thank you to Rabid. He drove all the way down with his digger to give me a hand for a couple of days. If was perfect timing as the recent rains had flooded the place and the ditches were not coping at all. We replaced a culvert and cleaned out an epic amount of leaves from the ditches and the results were immediate. I really appreciate the help and the advice was invaluable too. -
Crack on then, it's only you that ends up coming across a fool. No skin off my nose

I do a lot of deer stalking and do a bit of blood tracking too. Some of the guys in europe who do the same use labs as both stalking indicator dogs and to track wounded deer. They have to be able to hold a wounded deer so a bit of hardness is not discouraged. I think that might be a benefit when breeding a lurcher? I'm sure there's dogs here that would do the same but it's not likely to be encouraged in a dog used for picking up or beating. That's my thinking anyway for what it's worth
-
I might be able to get a stud out of Danish deer tracking stalking lines. If you are serious I will make some enquiries?
-
How would you go about the breeding? Lab sire over greyhound bitch? Or would you go for a coursing bitch? And what kind of sire? I've been thinking about this for a long time
-
What does that even mean? Maybe you are as good a dog man as you make out or maybe your not, I don't know because i don't know you. The same applies to you. All these people you are slating, you don't know them. You are literally just making shit up. You are a nuisance plain and simple, please stop talking rubbish and f***ing threads up, it's boring and makes you come across as an idiot which you may or may not be, I don't know or care.
-
I would like one but I'd prefer someone else bred it to be honest. I don't have the dog or bitch but i would very much like to try the cross
-
What's he like? I had in mind to use one of the Danish imports that are used as deer stalking and tracking dogs, they have a bit more edge to them than the average picking up dog. Having said that my bog standard yellow lab was an enthusiastic fox killer when he got the chance.
-
You really do talk the most utter bollocks.
-
My next lurcher will be a lab x grey if I can find one bred out if the right parents. That's silly money though. I guess it means it'll put off messers and peddlers but it's still really steep
