  1. No, you clearly do not understand it.
  2. No offence but I think you will still come across as a naive jobsworth. Its not that you're straight that people don't like, plenty of us are, its that you have no empathy and are proud of it. Peoples lifes are all different and things happen and sometimes people stray down the wrong path. If you cant see that there is something wrong with you.
  3. I used mine like a lurcher mostly but he'd retrieve, swim etc. no problem. He used to bush hard cover when he was young but as soon as I had bushers he stopped that and did the running.
  4. I have a firstx, a little more lurcherlike in shape. Hes 13 now, best hunting dog I've ever had, wish I could clone him
  5. Get them boxed up and sold as breeding pairs. If they are old they will be tough as old boots to eat

Is this theoretical or are you talking from experience?
  7. I am extremely envious of this, I worked in a narrow boat yard years ago and could easily have gone down that route. There is something very appealing about that life style.
  8. Its taken a while to get my shit together but I've finally got some bits growing in there now. I've mostly been using it to hide from the rain and drink tea between jobs. Got onions, Swiss chard, garlic growing and just sowed carrots, spinach and kohl rabi and waiting for them to sprout
  9. I wonder how these dogs are doing now?
  10. The pups been up to mischief. My sister took her out with her dogs and she ran off and came back like this. Not quiet how I wanted to enter a 9 month old pup but she obviously had other ideas.
  11. Thats bloody lovely. Always fancied that life
  12. Put Gary's whippet over Pixie in a couple years time
  13. You'd be better off with a GPS collar. No harness is going to allow you to see a dog in thick cover
  14. The DOC huts are still going, we stayed in them in various places in both North and South Island. Mostly hunters and trampers use them i think. What a brilliant thread! I thought the same when I was there, everyone is obsessed about the big game animals but I reckon I could have a whale of a time hunting the small stuff. The Canterbury plains are a hare coursers dream and bushing possums and either catching them with dogs on the ground or treeing them and shooting with a .410 sounds very appealing too
  15. They are used in the nordic countries, have a look on youtube
  16. This is a pic from a few years back. The 21ttsjrtxwhippet I mentioned earlier. I wish I could clone him
  17. I've heard about these terriers, I'd be interested to see them. We don't have the particular quarry they excel at by me, mores the pity
  18. Might well be but I think you'd catch more with a whippet x. You wouldn't bush as much out with one but a couple of bushers and something small and fast like I'm talking about is a wicked combination. I have a pat springer, who is as quick as most leggy terriers I should think, but she only really catches in cover, in the open she just doesn't have the pace. I've bred a litter from the two dogs for exactly that reason. Whether they turn out as i hope still remains to be seen but im hoping .....
