  1. I've only been on this site a few days so I feel a bit cheeky to just appear and start asking, but does anybody have any permission in the north east for ferreting? The places I usually go to are friends of friends and the shifts im working at the minute means the stars have to align for me to go with them. The only permission i have for myself is a golf course which will be great for taking my kits when they are old enough as the sets only have 2 or 3 holes in the hedgerow, but my older hob needs a decent place to have a run about and a golfy just isnt good enough. Especially when I leave as
  2. Yes mate shes grown up with them. She learnt the hard way about trying to play with them while they work and now she knows to let them crack on haha
  3. I started taking my jack russell out at about 8 months. For the most part she just enjoyed running with my mates dogs while they worked. Now she gets amongst it and is a canny little ratter herself. She can get bored and distracted easy after a few hours though but she gets better with every week and can mark holes for rabbits.
  4. Ive got a 14 month old JRT bitch. Her behaviour is spot on, she has a half decent recall, and she works spot on. When im out with her and the ferrets she rarely goes more than 50 feet away from me while shes looking for holes or in the bushes and a whistle will bring her back to me. The problem I have is for some reason if i was to leave the garden gate open or take her off lead while im walking around the streets she would just bolt. And i mean no looking back, just one straight line with no stopping her. Do you think this is just with her age? Like i say, put her in a field or a forest and s

  6. Hi to everybody on the forum. Im glad i've found a place to help further my knowledge of hunting/fieldsports. I always enjoy learning new things, especially when it comes to ferrets or jack russells! Sam
  7. I lined my mates jill this season with my hob, and before the kits were born a lurcher got a hold of him and he had to be put down. I got the brother of the jill as a replacement to work with. The kits are ready to come home to me now, and i was wondering whether it would be ok to put them with the hob eventually. Ive got a big set up for them and a smaller hutch to put the hob in for the time being so they can get used to the smell of each other but eventually i want them all together. How old will the kits have to be before i put them in with him? They are currently 9 weeks. Cheers
