    maybe your right mate ,think its just what suits each person ? iv seen all different crosses do a decent job ,even a greyhound retrieve to hand many years back ? but for what I do a big suluki cross might struggle pushing through tight cover to retrieve a bird ?and my beddy crosses would maybe struggle behind a hare ? each to there own I suppose ? but I would love to see the waterloo cup run again it was a great end of season day out ? we can dream eh ?

    as I iv worked both sides of the fence I wunna want coursing stuff in mine ,I like mine to be traditional lurchers that's not to say I dunna like coursers used to have a lad come from Leicester on our patch to exercise our hares and was as good as iv seen ?but it would never be able to work a net ? horses for courses simples?

    tried it once on a hot spot that you would never dare go near during the day ? we had a heavy fall of snow so thort it be easy as it be light enough to see proper it was all on the flat and easy to net up ? think we had about 10 but its harder work than you think ? not again done it since ? but it was a adventure ?lol

    most beddy crosses have good jackets and the first x whippet or grey always have a good jacket ? aslong as you use the right beddy that is ?

    I always had collie crosses till I had a first x beddy/grey they just got that something else ? not that im knocking collie crosses other than they could be very tempamental ? beddy crosses are real doers?

    used to have great fun working a railway batter on a sunday morning a lurcher either side and terrier working the middle with ferret for the stubborn ones that went to ground .

    offer to do some dogging in that always scores browny points with keepers and also gives ya dogs some work ?

    the younger bitch I run now not as steady but she getting there it was only our first shoot last sat so all the dogs are like coiled springs at the moment but they will settle as the season gets into the swing ? if anything she has a bit of a habit of spitting birds out a bit short of me ,yet dosent do it with a rabbit ?

    my old bitch here I sadly lost last march found and flushed no end of birds the spaniels and labs had walked over,she was as steady as a rock and would freeze if a rabbit would run through the line unlike a lot of spaniels ? a good lurcher is very versatile?

    cracking photo ,its great when you see a lurcher doing a spaniel or labs job ? I always say a lurcher can do there job but they cant do a lurchers ? keep flying the flag mate
