  1. Fair play and good on you to low plains drifter , that’s two of THL Massive Kyle has the good fortune to bump into . He’s seems to travel very light with hardly any gear in his ruck , not even an air mat or cooking stuff, no meths stove or pots. Very minimal. Hats off to him. Must admit would love a crack at that , only for a month or so or maybe more to do the coast or something. Just to switch off from life, work , hassle and stresses . Just go back to basics and re sett for a while .
  2. Just started reading this old big game book, and it says at start what I said above.
  3. Was reading online , that a good quality expensive bow is obviously better build quality than a cheap one. But if you was to go abroad and bowhunt. It really is the individual and not the equipment. Field craft and perseverance and skill as you need to get to 10 yards of your quarry. I think it's a very skilled form of hunting tbh.
  4. I only really buy budget Chinese bows tbh, you absolutely have to buy another string , a fast flight Flemish string off eBay for between £15 to £30 as the strings that come with them are junk. I just use now a peace of Velcro on the arrow shelf and Velcro strips on top of risers to make it quieter. And that's it really , I shoot with a glove as tried tabs and just don't like them. I've never worn an arm guard as my form is correct so never twatted my arm at all with the string so optional I reckon. You can get a trad bow called a Black Hunter for about £80 stick another £20 on for a decent str
  5. Gordie carnivore ? Been watching him myself. With work commitments I don't get a lot of opportunity for first light. So am out every chance I get
  6. No footpaths in that wood nice and quiet mate
  7. Ad another little sit this morning from 4.30am with the catty and camera . Nice to watch daylight break
  8. Took the new bow down the permission woods . It packs down well into a rucksack and shoots great , really happy with it. Got some broadheads groupings at 18 yards and then did some stump shooting on beer cans at same range .
  9. No it would of been undies and he's fatter and hairer than me
  10. Looks lovely that mate. My old man has just set off on a 8 week trip on his barge to London and back. Monday he set off. Am getting pics already with him eating al fresco
  11. Mark Brick once tried to get me in a hot tub , does that count ?
  12. Would I need my dungarees lol
  13. This is the attractant stuff to use for photography, hopefully get some nice close pics.
  14. Treated myself, got a new bow . A ILF ( international limb fitting) Longbow . Quite rare these , it just means the bow limbs just click in n out with out bolts. Super quick to put together and not often seen in traditional longbows. I know this sounds boring, but this bow is super sexy . 45lb draw and has first 3 shots and love it . Also had some attractant stuff delivered for my photography.
  15. I think it’s mad mate that you could quite easily take out a rabbit or pheasant at 15 to 20 yards and maybe closer a red hind or stag or wild boar with a stick and string ! I’ve ad lurchers for over 30 plus years and never really been interested in guns or shooting apart from air guns for pheasants ect and done a bit ruff shooting with shottys now and again , but wasn’t my bag tbh. But to harvest large and small prey with a stick and string is amazing. It’s so natural mate. I thing that’s why I enjoy hunting with a catty .
  16. I only shoot traditional, I tried compound but fell for trad. Got to get a lot closer to your quarry. Also I target shoot on my permissions and I reckon I would look like John Rambo in Rambo 3 wandering about with a compound. But a little 3 peace recurve or 2 peace longbow breaks down and fits in a rucksack and takes seconds to assemble. To be honest mate I've fell in love with it, a real good stress buster after work. Would love to hunt abroad. That's a good tip about the river and floaters. Cheers
  17. Too hot today mooch with mutt. So went down woods do some what the yanks refer to as stump shooting. You use a judo head on your arrow and it doesn’t break the arrow or impregnate so far. But instead of shooting tree stumps I was shooting the crackheads beer cans. Few shots at 15 and twenty yards. Was nice and peaceful apart from the bloody parakeets squawking above me .
  18. Yeah looks good , would love a gander ŕound there and would probably spend a fist full of dollars in there too. Love the old taxidermy as my late grandfather was a taxidermist.
  19. The sun always brings the punters out ! Yesterday was busy , so preparing for another busy day ! Be mostly sandwiches and salad box’s today and BLT,s as well
