    Yes I have found the loam to be somewhat dry myself, I coverd a bed wi conifer cuttings and sheeted it over hopefully it would rot down well it didn't infact it looked just the same as when I.put it on apart from the bottom layer had gone black ,anyway I thought bollox 2 this scaped it off and the soil underneath was rock solid ffs planted it wi.onions and there going better than the bed that was done properly, remember u heard it here first
