  1. I’ve shot both over the top and through the forks. It’s personal preference, but looking back I would definitely start out over the top. The reason been I found it more forgiving if I made a mistake. Everyone’s different and some may disagree, but I’m not talking about accuracy. I’ve had some nasty hand hits shooting through the forks when I started out, right on the inside of my index finger, it cuts, it bruises and it I bloody hurts for a while. Over the top is more forgiving if you make a mistake, less fork hits etc.
  2. I’ve started doing that a while back. Also safer.
  3. Get someone to measure your draw length. From the top target side of fork to the front of pouch where the band ends. As a guide divide by 5. Eg 75 draw length divide 5 = 15cm active draw length (if you were making your bands you would add extra onto this amount to accommodate tying onto the pouch and clips.
  4. Have you tried shooting without the scales? I prefer to shoot without them, allows my fingers to go inside the hole. Looks nicer with them on though.
  5. Just thought I’d find out the weight ....all with lanyards and bands on scout lt with clips.....101 gram torque with clips........115 gram occularis with rubber bungs and bearings.....95 gram
  6. Didn’t know they did a camo one.....nice.
  7. Arrived, need to take it out. Tube slits need a little sanding so do the retaining screws, very rough around where the flat head screwdriver/ penny goes...other than that seems spot on.
  8. I’ve only seen them advertised at SimpleShot.
  9. I should have asked before I bought..could have saved myself some cash...saying that I fancied an orange one.....do you have an occularis?
  10. Just decided to treat myself to the simple shot torque...from pro shot. To be honest it’s never really appealed to me, looked a bit of an awkward shape, but apparently it’s supposed to be good for the thumb on frame hold which I do........£25 inc p&p, added the flip clips as well so £35 all in. Should complement the scout lt and occularis. Comes with looped 2040. Anyone tried one? Should be here in a day or two.
  11. Up to now with 8mm I’ve tried sheshou .75, gzk green .66, gzk black cold band .58. First time I used the cold black gzk .58 I noticed a split in the middle of the band and I couldn’t have had more than 30 balls through it, so I stopped using it for a while. I have been using the black a while now and I think it’s the toughest band out of the gzk colours,I haven’t had a piece split down the centre since but keep checking. Anyway for the 8mm, at 18/13 taper I find the black gzk .58 to be the best I’ve tried. I’m only hurting trees and branches at the minute, but did take a rabbit not
  12. How you compare to theraband?
  13. Posted this on another thread, but maybe of use to you, just cutting using Celtic catty template.....although they’re out of stock until next week.
  14. This is a video on a Celtic catty band template......none in stock at minute as I’m after another, but back next week. Not sure if it’s any help really as it just shows you cutting the taper and the extra space he allows for pouch n forks etc.
  15. Yes, just measure from the fork tip to how long you need for the band to seat into its clip..... eg 17cm add the above length. On the scout lt I need 0.5cm so 17cm plus 0.5cm. ......17.5cm On the pouch end I add about 1.5cm.....so total length of band cut 19cm You could continue cutting as you are .....adding the 1cm for forks and just double over the excess if necessary.
  16. Sorry the furthest tip of forks
  17. Id just bulk buy some ball bearings from that fella ( somebody can find out his name hopefully ) about 6000 8mm for about £38. He does do smaller amounts. im no expert but I’m sure you’d get better results with using steel/ lead balls. Right consistent band size as well and I’d bet your consistency would rocket.
  18. What’s size and material...lead...steel......will your ammunition be? i might have missed it but was your draw length 105cm? Are you going to be using tapers.....?
  19. I’d divide by five, so 13.2..cm..... but I tend to add a little more on so I’d round up to 14cm. Then depends on the catapult how much you need for forks...eg scout lt....I only add about .5cm on that end, but the pouch end anything from 1 to 2 cm what ever is easiest because you will chop excess off from pouch. How ever on the occularis that simple shot do I have to add more on at the front. What catapult you got? I had a decent short video of someone using a Celtic catty template and how they add extra on either end if I can find it I’ll post it on this thread.
  20. I got lucky then last time as I didn’t get charged, but I checked there site and they won’t mark as gift etc.... I was tempted to get an occularis and scout lt from them...but may wait till proshot have the occularis back in.
  21. It’s a great catapult, it’s one of those like the scout that you always return to ( well I do anyway) unlike some you can buy then after a few outings get left at home. The band attachment although good is I bit more time consuming than the scout, but still effective. I find it lovely in the hand, thumb on front, index finger wrapped around.......with my little finger tucked into the slit at the bottom of the from. It doesn’t look too fancy, but it works, fairly slim too. Just have to make sure you line bands up right. Torque hasn’t appealed to me as of yet though, might try in the future
  22. Have you measured your draw length from the far edge of your forks to your pouch at full draw? Roughly divide by 5....., eg my draw 75cm / 5= draw length of 15 cm,. Template for the Taper of your choice worth it’s weight in gold...tenner at Celtic cattys.
  23. Love old fashioned Russell’s for bushing, it’s just the popping down the odd hole that used to give me a near heart attack. Id love another in years to come, but might be tempted with spaniel x Russell........just for general mooching.
