My first set of tapered 18/13 .75 sheshou were done at both pouch with probably 50/100 shots. Right in front of the crystal string on the bridge of the band. I reckon I may have wrapped too tightly.

Sorry for the delay in replying, however I did reply a couple of days ago, but for some reason it didn’t post...maybe I forgot to submit reply. Anyway,.....18/13mm active draw 15cm, 0.75mm sheshou......8mm steel, shoots surprising well, I’m no expert but it doesn’t seem the bands are over powering it, unlike when I shot 25/20 .66 gzk with 8mm Andy it wouldn’t go further than 10 feet. If you tell me your active length I will send you a band to try if you want....just pm me your active length and post details.

Always received orders in a normal time frame........answering emails pretty SLOW,

Dude on YouTube who now shoots 8mm recommended the tapers in the pic below......, I had to laugh the other day I took both scouts out set up at 18/13 and the occularis with 25/20 all three with .66 green gzk. The occularis ( which was set up to shoot 9.5mm) shot the 8mm steel.....an amazing 12-18 feet.....just shows you. Ive put the link to the vid below the pic.

I was intending to go for .7 sheshou as a change from .65 green gzk to see how the 8mm handled it, but unfortunately cattyshack didn’t have it at this thickness, 0.65 sold out and .75 was next step up in stock. I’m not a big gzk fan as for me it can split way too soon. I reckon my black .58 had less than one hundred shots before it snapped.....this happened I think both times I shot it up to now.....maybe a bad batch, who knows. My bands are tapered from 18/13mm, active 15cm for 8mm. Before this I was shooting 9.5 25/20mm and around .65...... a combination I like, but I suffer with my m

I’ll keep you updated........ Band came today. .75 sheshou...cut 18/13mm 15cm active....only had time for a little shoot up in woods. It shoots it well, if it’s faster/ hits harder than the gzk .66 I’m not sure yet. Slightly harder draw, but I bet it last longer than the gzk. I’m happy with it, but until I shoot some more with it I can’t really compare to the .66. Green gzk. Is it over powered....it doesn’t seem so to me, but I’m no expert.....but I’d say no at the taper etc I’m using with it.....I’m happy up to now, be interesting to see on its longevity compares to the green gzk.

What you reckon........is there a dwarf behind the car?
-
Thanks.....I’ve just ordered the .75 sheshou, from cattyshack, probably over kill for the 8mm I’ve got at the minute....but looking forward to trying it If you ever order a band template they’re £8.95 cheaper at Celticcattys as apposed to cattyshack and they do all sizes of taper.
-
I’ll be trying some of that then.....how do you find the draw weight of comparable thickness of other bands?
-
Have you tried sheshou band? I haven’t yet, but curious, catty shack got it in.
-
How consistent are you? What's your ratio hits to misses?
Shortstraw replied to Tyla's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
I couldn’t hit nothing today....seriously nothing. -
I’m exactly same when shooting up....always above

Am I on the right track thinking lazzy means bands? If no ignore below. If so I’ve got .66 green gzk and .58 anti cold gzk.......shoots well it’s longevity is shit especially the .58 black anti cold.....can’t have had 100 shots through last two bands before it snapped at pouch. Had precise which lasted longer than the gzk......and equally if not better.

Funny that......when I got my scout Lt I held it and thought this doesn’t feel right......until I shot it, felt like a cheap toy in my hand at first. Lovely little catapult very pocketable with it also been slimmer than the scout.

Either eBay or amazon,,,,,I wouldn’t bother with the blue ones like mine go naked or just remove the blue bits near the locking mechanism.....gets in way sometimes something like this.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Skyweb®-Locking-Pliers-Suturing-Piercing-Veterinary/dp/B01MTQFISB/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Medical+clamps&qid=1589470759&sr=8-1

If you know how to calculate your active length ( measure where the elastic comes over the catapult to your pouch at full draw then divide by 5 for active length) then have a template from Celtic cattys made it will save you a fortune, 25/20 or 23/18 quite good tapers. When I cut mine I add 1 1/2cm extra for doing the pouch and a bit extra for where it fixes to the frame. I just put a list of stuff on that I use on another thread I’ll link it if I can Its in the “ New bands finally arrived thread just below this one” if your already making them doubt it’ll be of any use.

Have you tried precise or gzk bands.....Celtic catty or catty shack or wasp slingshots sell rolls of band. I generally use the .66 ish for 9.5. If anything happens to the clips on your scout proshot catapults do spare ones. I believe they do the metal ones which will last a life time for a tenner. Also, (you might already have one), Celtic cattys do a nice template for cutting bands only a tenner.....I’ve just got one.....it’s brilliant and saves a lot of time. Its the same catty I use a lot, my favourite that and the scout lt. .

Talking of pouches I just got some delivered for 8mm balls, one design of pouch no problem getting band through however the hole in the other design was so small....like really small. I had to get the clamp scissors and use one of the points to push the corner of the band slightly through then gently coax the rest through by gently pulling......not ideal but I got there. Seems strange shooting 8mm......makes it feel more like a toy.......but they do fly and weigh less in the pocket....given how many i carry.

I didn’t get on with it either, seemed tough stuff, but hard to pull back.

Pic of things I use to make bands. https://www.flickr.com/gp/138573537@N07/966ZZ6 https://www.flickr.com/gp/138573537@N07/x8cc1E Hope that helps.

How did you find the black bands that came with it? I find my tough to pull back..... ( I wasn’t sure what thickness it was so I contacted simple shot and was told it was the black .7 they sell......think mine was a 23 taper.
-
Ah you got the Lt......I love it, although I generally have mine with palm swell bits removed and have two fingers through the hole. clips are great, but I find a bit fiddly trying to get the bands straight sometimes. It’s lovely and pocketable. Might have asked already, but have you tried the axiom occularis by simple shot? id find that a bit too powerful for me to pull back with my muscles at present, I’ve got 25/20 green gzk on mine with 9.5 steel.

I’ve found through experience that if I mess up on a ott setup it’s just a bad shot however if I screw up on a ttf it can mean my index finger gets hit just after the knuckle with the ball and this is excruciatingly painful and puts you out of action for a few days. I started ott then went to ttf.....I’d say for me when I went back to ott I found I was slightly more accurate that way, I can only assume for others it’s the other way round.

Things for making bands........ Band jig....different types ranging in price.......quite easy to make.... Self healing craft mat. Cutting roller 45mm does it well. Crystal string 1mm for tying at pouch Band template for making tapers....£10 Celtic cattys......worth having, makes life easy ( when you buy a band template they ask your active length.......distance from tip of catapult furthest away to tip of pouch at full draw divided by 5 I think)....that’s what I use anyway......then when you cut you add a little extra to accommodate tying to pouch and fixing to ca

I don’t know much about tubes, greyman I think is familiar with them.........I’m using flat bands, .66 green gzk at minute for 9.5 steel....on a 25/20 taper........, or precise is another good one........23/18 taper probably another good taper. Check your bands regular around the pouch area though as it seems to wear a bit quicker than theraband. I found precise to last longer than gzk....both great though...better than theraband for me.
