For that sort of money you can get a tidy secondhand rapid. Excellent guns, a bit pricey but worth the money, you wont regret it
Keep checking the bbs for secondhand ones
Interesting programme on radio 4 earlier about the deliberate spread of myxy in the early 1950's

36 million rabbits on one Australian farm alone
Thinking of getting rid of mine too, or just use it for buying off the bay and go back to the old cheque or PO for selling
Never used special delivery, Is that like cash in an envelope that needs to be signed for??
See how much the b@@stards rob you when you use them to sell on the bay. This link works out how much you pay in fees and how much more you need to charge to end up with what you wanted. If that makes sense
paypal fee calculator
Then there's the ebay selling fees
Today as I watched through an upstairs window, about yards from my larsen, I saw one maggie having a good look at the situation. It flew from tree to tree before dropping in to feed on some bread, which I had thrown next to and on top of the trap to try and entice them in. It picked up one piece and off it went with it.
I actually thought it was heading into the trap. But no such luck! However now it has had a free meal hopefully it'll be back with a bit more confidence
You are lucky to have a good gun shop "local" to you. There used to be a few about around here but one after the other they shut down
There are still plenty of places to buy cartridges, but none who have a showroom of guns to dream about
As already said secure it as much as possible, try and put it in a corner if possible so it can be bolted to two walls
firearms security
Each security check depends on a number of things like how secure the house is to start with. I know one person who has had his cabinet passed in a brick outbuilding not attatched to his house, so as said each case is different but the more secure the better
There is a lot more to fac tuning a rapid than simply winding an allen screw in. All this leads to is a bent leaking valve
In decent condition I'd personally say around the £400 mark. I also think it would sell better if put back to original "unplayed with state"
Millie are you buying or selling?
It always seems hard to me to catch the first maggie without already having a call bird, it's just something I want to accomplish hence the title "mission impossible"
I too have put a small mirror in the trap by the fake nest, dunno whether it helps or not
Once you've got a call bird then the rest is easy
For those people who have caught a call bird
Keep on trapping 'em, them tweety birds appreciate it
Go for the toyota four runner 3.0 td it's a much more reliable engine. The surfs are renowned for head gasket trouble. The four runner is basically the same truck with less chrome and a better engine, but secondhand prices may reflect this
With the buds starting to shoot and a welcome bit of warmer weather, I thought it's time to get the larsen trap out. I know it's not quite spring yet but it'll soon be here. So I have baited the larsen with eggs and a bit of dead grass made to look like a nest (I didn't have any straw but this didn't look too bad) . I am going to try what seems to be impossible - to catch my own call bird rather than get one off a mate, well for at least a week or two anyway
I know I'm being a bit impatient yet because I only set it on Tuesday
All I have seen near the trap so far is a few rook
No mate, not me just got the one, she will chase rabbits but just isn't quick enough. Daft as a brush, but if you heard her barking then you'd steer clear, excellent gaurd dog
I'll have to get a copy of this weeks cmw
A couple of years ago the turbo went on my landrover travelling down the M6 near wigan. Loads of smoke and the engine running on its own oil wouldn't turn off, so put it into 5th and stalled it. Thought I'll phone the AA, after waiting about 45 mins for them to turn up they put it on the recovery truck, I thought sorted
Apparently not after a few miles the driver says they will only go 10 miles off the motorway or to the nearest garage
So after going 10 miles we pull up at a service station and I had to wait for a mate of mine to tow me the rest of the way (about 40 miles). If I knew
I have a mate who used to use phostoxin for the forestry commision on rabbits. He only used it in dry weather as when it was wet it started to dissolve and would smell like garlic. So I would think it depends on how wet the ground is as to how fast the pellets dissolve and turn into gas and as for how long the gas "stays active" I haven't got a clue.
Personally I'd give it a miss
