  1. Cheers mate. Much appreciated. It also needs a new lever retaining latch as the hook on it has snapped in the past so the lever doesn't lock up. Think a bit of saving is going to be needed ? But for the time being ill work on removing the crud from the inside of the cylinder
  2. It's definitely not the standard piston for the mk5 and don't know what it's from I noticed that you took your airsporter to sports and leisure in Blyth so I'm guessing you live in the north east and wondered where abouts as I live near killingworth and having someone close to hand would be helpful
  3. Ah cheers for the heads up mate, much appreciate it ? Do you reckon there a hole with a pin in under one of those O rings, just I don't think there is and can't figure out how to take it off
  4. Got them set last night as the rain stopped. Checked them at 7 this morning. On way back when a rabbit stopped 10yds away and would of been an easy shot but guess who forgot their catty this morning... ?he had a old English black neck pheasant behind him as well and when I continued on my way, seen what at first looked like a partridge not 20yds from the pheasant and rabbit trying to flush, only the fence netting was stopping it. Turned out to be a woodcock and was clearly in view and identifiable once it managed to flush. Not something you see everyday ? Forgot to get pictures of the fir
  5. Just going to keep the spring mate. It isn't very brutal to cock but I was considering a top hat and spring guide but was worried about it taking the power over the limit. What's your experience with power increase as a result of the top hat and spring guide. Also it doesn't have an airsporter piston head in it. Don't have a clue what it's from tbh but it's loose and no pin to knock out??
  6. Got it in bits and piston out. Piston head is wobbly a bit and there is no top hat (not sure if the airsporters came with them) so any info on that would be helpful. Going to give it a clean. Quite a bit of preload on the spring mind ?
  7. Got stock off and metal and woodwork in good nick and please excuse the messy shed? Don't think it's got an ox spring in it but can i hell drift that lever retaining pin out to unscrew trigger block. Any tips?
  8. Yeh that’s my opinion too mate, and definitely true for them being more shareable during the longer days and early nights. Definitely many to be nice on Thursday so will get them sorted that evening. The runs I’m snaring are on the few runs that come into the wood and with snaring, more and location is normally the way in succeeding.
  9. I would take it if it interfered with other things but it won’t so I’m happy to do it for nothing unless he keeps asking me to comeback ? Some permission is better than none
  10. Yeh ano mate and I get that. Maybe something to do later down the road. I’m only a young fellow you know haha?
  11. You see around here everybody I know who has permission and shoots are doing just to be able to shoot. No one asks for money, they do because they love and don’t do it as a business. As do I. Hope it clears that up. I wouldn’t mind being known as the person who controls pests for free haha as I’m no obligation to go down continually or at all for that matter. Just how it is around here
  12. I’m not too fussed about being paid as its a nice bit of ground close to me and I am happy to do it for nothing. I know the gardener well enough to do it for free, getting the job done for him and I’m allowed to go up regularly. If I didn’t know them as well I’d charge them but my dads a taxi driver who often picks up/drops off workers and this gardener and ask if we could shoot the large numbers of rabbits and he said yes. Just wanted to know other peoples thoughts
  13. Anyone else willing to show us what is your favourite gun and why it is. Becoming a good general discussion ?
  14. Got a bsa airsporter mk5 that is reasonably good nick ( better than my dads when he got his for £20 back in the 80s haha) but after shooting it a few months I believe it could do with a service as it's rather snappy and twangy. The power is there so not doing this to boost the power as I know the airsporter ran at around 10ft/lbs. thinking it may still need a new spring and a clean up of the insides. Anyone used to dealing with airsporters and servicing them and what I need to get it shooting smoothly. I was thinking a general clean up, top hat, a spring guide and maybe a new spring ( if it's
  15. Ah right. Thanks for the info. Still waiting for the weather to improve. Still lashing it down up my way. ill keep yous updated
  16. It's fairly sturdy mate. I usually put slates around it to make it dark but decided to not bother this time
  17. Got some rabbit snares hanging up in the garden to weather and waiting to go. As they were weathering I was curious of other people's views regarding weathering snares or even traps for that matter. Is it necessary?. Once they're out I'll put up some pics and of any catches. Weathers been awful and I don't like the idea of any trapped animals being stuck, open to the elements, causing unneeded stress, so just waiting for the weather to be less rainy then I'll get them set. Feel free to post any of your rabbit snaring pics on here, love to see how others are doing in their area. ATB
  18. It's office buildings which have old fashioned lawns and gardens mate. Just wants the rabbits controlled
  19. I would normally do that or use a box with wooden baffles to get the pest over the trap but didnt have a box at hand. Put the carrots under the pan tho haha
  20. You can do the first time. Besides the gun is a tool, a partner even, in the field. They get scarred up sometimes, as we do we haha. But i get what you're saying the first major scratch is a heartfelt affair
