  1. Went to Selby Game Fair yesterday and spent an hour watching the terrier showing, as i've just got a pup myself i thought i might give it a go later in the year. However when i read the rules in the program it states that no docked dogs under the age 12 months could be shown. I know this is the new ruling for the crufts type of shows, but surely the game fairs are aimed at working dogs not pets. And as no one is going to leave the tail on, and risk their animals health just to show their dog, this new ruling will spell the end of terrier showing. Bloody ridiculous if you ask me:protes
  2. Well said Jake! there are one or two Bullies on here, but you get them in all walks of life. Gotta feel sorry for them, if their life is enhanced by cyber Bullyiing Spot on mate, i recommended these people to this site because i think its s**t hot and i've learned loads from the decent people who are willing to share their knowledge, and not just take the p*ss and be sarcastic. This is a better picture of the mother and father.
  3. The Mrs gets a bit messy when she's cutting it
  4. I bought one of the bitches yesterday, and believe me the mother looks nothing like a sausage dog in the flesh, she's a cracking looking dog.
  5. This is the new girl in our lives. she's a nine week old Patterdale bitch and she's a little bugger.
  6. Nice job mate, its good to see people taking good care of the ferrets. i've seen too many just stuck in a dirty cage and only getting a look out if their owner can be arsed to get out and do a bit.
  7. If you've netted a rabbit you can tempt her out with that. Brian Plummer mentions a ferret doing the same in his book, apparently he bought it cheap from a gipsy and before he worked it, it was soft a your pocket but the first time out it latched onto his hand. I think he ended up drowning it to get it off.
  8. I've been in a simillar situation with the horses, gets a little stressful does'nt it.
  9. sounds like i'll get the 19 " no problem. Thanks for the advice.
  10. My Bedlington x Whippet/Greyhound is just over 5 months old now and she is 17 " tts. She has been shooting up but has slowed down over the last coulple of weeks, her appetite has reduced a bit as well. The question is when approx do they reach their full height and what height do you think she'll make, the dam is the whippet/greyhound and she stood at 22 " At least 19 " would be nice but i'm not that bothered.
  11. Well said mole catcher, some people on here cant wait for someone who is just getting into the sport to ask a question so they can take the p**s. These people should be encouraged and good advice should be given in a constructive manner.

  15. Is the basket the best and only way to transport the nets. You can buy these grommets from car acsessory shops so i suppose you could easily convert your existing poles.
  16. I've had my first outing with the longnets and i used the traditional setup, but have been advised that the fastnet system might be easier. Is there any detailed pictures or diagrams of the poles attaching to the nets availabe on this site. Any help would be appreciated. PS, I found a diagram, this will help. i've put it on in case it anyone else is interested.
  17. What a bloody day, a right mixed bag. It was my first outing using two 25 yrd longnets i have recently bought. As i did'nt have a clue how to set them i bought The Art Of Longnetting by Harold Wyman to pick up a few tips. So after doing my home work i made myself a peg bag using an old pair of jeans and made a couple of sets of end pins and set off with my 11 week old beddy whippet/greyhound (it was her first outing as well). The first net went up reasonably easy, but what a nightmare the second was. I pissed about for over an hour untangling it, i think the main problem was that i did'nt fol
  18. Nice one Paddy. I only get one's and two's myself and to be honest thats enough. I think the mixy has hit hard this year i wonder if it will take a couple of years to recover or is it always like this.

  21. Hi, recently got a Bedlington x Whippet/Greyhound pup, the sire being the Bedlington and i wondered if any one has got any pictures of the same cross when fully grown and then i can have a look at what i am going to get and also what size i should expect. She is 10 weeks old
  22. Your right about the small and spindly Dave. As for the mk 3 i'm not as well off as you so i'll just have to make do, you might get me one for christmas anyway. When are you going to put that gun away and give the ferts an outing.Check out the pup having a go at the rabbit, i let her lick the blood off my finger and she nearly bit it off. Just bought 10 Regina 393 batteries off ebay. I'm sure they are what i used last time
