Anyone going to Tabley Game & Country Fair Knutsford
byrney replied to aktonvermincontrol's topic in General Talk
I'll be going, enjoyed it last year, everything there the bigger shows have but on a smaller scale with a smaller entrance fee to match. Lets face it if we let rain stop us doing owt in this country we'd all end up doing f**k all. Wonder if they'll let me show my patterdale with the tale docked. Doubt it. -
Hope someone can assist. The way i can view replies to topics has changed by itself. When i click on a topic the replies now appear in a list which i have click each reply in turn to view it. Bloody annoying. I have checked the setting in the MY CONROLS section and all appears ok. Thanks.

Hi, dont know whats happened but when i click on a post topic i'm getting a list of all the replies which i have to click on individually to read them. This has only just happened, previously all the replies would be open and listed in order. I have not altered any settings can anyone help. This is an example of what i'm getting. Guests Just been asked to put up a simple permission letter, that makes it easy on the landowner, as most dont have any spare time, heres what i use.I,ve put in a fictional name and address to show how its worded. I, william

I've been offer a Logun Solo today with the 10 shot mag and Hawk 3 x 9 x 40 scopes for £250. The gun is as brand new, hardley used so i'm thinking of buying it and seeing which i prefer against my FN19 Raptor and i'll sell the one i'm least suited with. Only just getting into the air gun side of things so how do you experts think the two guns compare, and is £250 a good price as this is the amount he has been offered in a trade in.

I agree, the rabbit was already dead. My apologies, I mis-understood your original post No probs mate.

Let her have a bit of glory. She will settle. I cant understand why everyone always bangs on about retrieving like its the most important aspect for a running dog. Personally I couldnt care a toss if they bring it back or not cos rabbit tastes like shit to me anyway. Why not just enjoy watching her enjoy herself. Be a spectator not a control freak. They may taste like shit to you mate but i'm sure my ferrets would'nt agree. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Thanks lads, i'll give em ago

Just wanted a bit of advice please. My 8 month old beddy whippet/grey is rabbit mad now and today my terrier snatched a baby rabbit, i threw it for merlin and she ran all over the field with it shaking it as she went. But there's no way she would bring it to me, she would run past me with it but then she was off again. I've no doubt she will get the rabbits but i'm concerned she'll not retrieve. I have done some retrieve training but she changes when there is rabbit involved. Let me know if you have any tips.

Have you eat the pigeon and squirrel, they're both good eating in my opinion.

Someone on here recomended a "lasso tick" remover a while ago, i had to use it for the first time today and i just wated to say what a brilliant bit of kit it is. The beauty of it is that the lasso is spring loaded so you dont have to concentrate on squeezing the tick while removing. S**t h*t worth every penny http://www.uksafari.com/shop/goods/ticktool.htm

What distance from the bury should i be dropping my nets

I've just made two new 25 yrd nets into quicknets but to get the amount of bagging i wanted they are only about 15 yrds now. Dont think i've done owt wrong as they look the part and previously i've had rabbits bouncing of them. this happens when nets are purchased, that dont hold 100% of bag in them, but maybe only 25 or 50%, thus when set out on a quickset system, they become shorter, it allways pays to buy good quaility nets I'll know in future stubby

i reckon its cos theyre young and more afeared of the outside world than the older and bolder bunnies

Bloody awful mate, i'm gutted for you both. Lost the Patterdale in the picture to the left a few months ago, the dog was that close to me she stopped eating for a week when i went on holiday last year. Like loosing my best friend.

]Ferreted the same holes in january and the rabbits bolted outwards no problem. It would be a real problem laying purse nets or a long net through the middle due to the bramble, i could clear it then go back but its getting time unfortunatelly. Good news about the the mixy in the previous posting by moxy " (although you will find the odd mixy rabbit throughout any year), Then the population soon recovers and becomes a little more resilient." I had visions of all the rabbits being wiped out again before winter. It hit hard round my part of the world last season.

Went out at the weekend with the ferrets and the dog. I've never been out in the breeding season before but the landowner wants rid of the rabbits. There where plenty of rabbits about when i arrived so i set up my long net and let the ferrets loose. The rabbits soon started bolting but rather than run out to the field they just went from hole to hole, we put another two ferrets down but still the same. Is this because the rabbits are young, has anyone else experienced this ? We later tried one ferret down a threee holer and bolted one, my mate got it with the 4/10 but when we had

well done mate, hope mine does the business. She's eight months and i've not tried her yet. End of summer is the time i think.

Just started taking my 7 month old Bedlington x Whippet/Grey pup on a new walk. The walk is around a basin shaped peice of land and its teaming with rabbits. She's starting to show a real interest in them now, she spotted a couple this morning and gave chase, she was a little unsure so it was only a half hearted attempt. The rabbits where slow moving, probably heavily pregnant but they easilly got to cover. The question is should i be letting her run at them or should i have her on a lead at the moment. I'm in no rush and dont want to ruin her. Any help would be welcome.
