  1. 6.5mm does a pretty final job on foxes, if you're asking, JW.
  2. I bought 500 Eley subs for £30 on Friday, here in Essex. The increase in rimfire prices has hardly been as eye-watering as the hike in shotgun ammo prices.
  3. I do the same on my permissions - the farmers all ask for hares to be shot on sight. There is a genuine problem with illegal coursing in this part of Essex. I think hares are wonderful animals. The problem is not that hares are a crop-destroying pest like pigeons or rabbits, but *some* of the people who course for hares. I can sympathise with farmers who get the grief and violence from the illegal coursers. Axeoil, trespass is trespass. Aggravated trespass is a criminal offence. Private property is exactly that - private. Why should landowners have to suffer at the hands of retards who fee
  4. OK granted, Snap Shot, I appreciate your point, but the Mk4 is obviously sufficient for a regular USMC marksman.
  5. Look at what a proper military sniper uses on a rifle - it's not a Nightforce. I spent a good few years in the military, and we used German optics every time. Neither the US M25 or M40 sniper set-up, nor the British L96, nor the German PSG-1 uses Jap optics. In fact, I believe the Yanks have now opted for the Leupold Mk 4, having ditched US Optics. You cannot compare a police marksman with a military sniper.
  6. They're used on a lot of the European 'battue' rifles, built specifically for shooting driven boar at close range. People also single bead fibre-optic sights on shotguns to try to correct eye-dominance issues.
  7. You may have corrected it by now, but in that photo you have the sling fitted back-to-front. Unless you carry the rifle barrel down, which isn't wise. It looks like a cracking set-up though!
  8. Snap Shot, I was looking at a Zeiss Conquest, from DNR Sports over the Pond. They look like good value for money - my only queries were re warranties and whether Zeiss use lower quality parts in the Conquest scopes. I assume you've got one of the Conquests?
  9. Another vote for the 6.5x55mm here. All of the gunsmiths around me keep a healthy stock of 6.5 ammunition. I have it for deer and fox on my FAC.
  10. The offer's been snatched up by a member now - problem solved.
  11. I've deleted my initial post - I'm grateful for all the offer of help, but one of the forum members is now handling the vermin problem for me.
