  1. As a young lad we had no problems obtaining pups and entered dogs as the Llangollen show provided us with what we needed, these days litters of pups with there parents with them and rows of dogs ready for work wow!! I remember a bitch caught my eye but couldn't scrape the money for her with my mates , I hassled Mr Gould all day, the bitch went back in the van with him. These days renowned terrier men with pups are rare , the standard of dogs is still here but in short supply , what is available to the novice is poor talked up , and poorly bred , anyone knows the standard of work has effected
  2. There riding around on robbed quads, drinking in local pubs , with the dogs on show....and on and on. The farmer who showed them about thinks there like us.. The problem is they ain't, the areas already on top . Stupid fxxxxin farmer, why do tossers like these take to hunting, enough said . Good hunting .
  3. A shot in the dark, four guys small bald one? Out today ? Had a pup ? Yes could be anyone?but had another day fixing your digging exploits on farms ! Philips etc., where we've dug and looked after quarry for years, mate the farmers who's took you everywhere was mistaken thinking we don't bother anymore, we keep a low profile,no bother ,but killing all, and leaving stuff hanging out of half filled holes is gonna bollocks it up. Do it right your already on top on a few places . If your gonna do it ,do it better.
  4. There's a Huge difference in digging quarry, to torturing it!, maybe the boy in question was the latter, and the grass thought he was protecting proper digging lads, unfortunately wether we do it right or wrong were all put in the same boat by people who know nowt or care about what we do. Well never know why he done what he did , inexcusable maybe. Why can't we dig badgers again?????
  5. Mate , done all that .... Get a paper round you'll earn more money
  6. Out of interest what lives in holes what you can work your dogs on? Are the quarry thick on the ground or are they well spread out? Cheers
  7. Looks like you boys are havin a bit of what we've been having for years. Wet your index finger and put it between there cheeks. They ain't as good as us .
  8. Come on let's get real borders where finished a good and proper 30 years ago on our island, what are we getting bothered about ! Real work for these d
  9. I've been involved in working dogs since I could focus , yet my eleven year olds never been out with me. Think that says it all. We need a war , but are leaderless , the only minority with no rights. Lets just moan on hunting life and do fuff all. If I got my boy involved in our way of life I might as well paint him black and send him to USA in the fifties. New terrier men , I hope not
  10. Right mate make us 5 , 4 small , one large. PayPal ok
  11. This totally sums the situation up.. Don't become bald like me , time out with the dog ,and he'll eventually show his cards . Always better though in the company of an animal you can trust, and it will show the dog for what he is, :-)
  12. My god bellman and flint . Bother with nothing else ....do yourself a favour.
  13. I'd love to own a true working border, and its making a bit of a revival in my neck of the woods, but quality dog men have tried and failed at finding and maintaining this breed as a worker, even now the jack Russell is on the road to ruin , once they become popular as pets , it seems to take all the qualities we require, although looking the same , they no longer have a days work in them. How long before the oaks border dilutes into the show Stuff. They could be revived overseas maybe, with quality quarry to work, and dedicated working dog enthusiasts, Here's hoping . Good luck.
  14. Lost in translation mate! Was answering to someone spouting bible at me regarding killing animals, only finding my feet at this so must have sent response in wrong area. My apologies
  15. Never exactly found the breeding out, I remember a red but know one ever mentioned him as his site? The dog in question was black ,Tom , owned by Neil and sold to a keeper around Shrewsbury. I would have bought him but Neil didn't offer him to me, even though I kennelled and worked him while Neil was away. Dogs of this calibre ,don't pop up to often. He sometime worked 3 days a week, in sizeable earths, there must be stuff out of him around the area. Cheers sorry to get away from original subject.
  16. Sorry that reply was to corkyjohn I think, do you only eat vegetables. Respect.
  17. Can't agree mate people more important, sorry, different views and all that. But I do mean quickly and cleanly. I don't ride horses niether my good fellow, all the best.
  18. How come such a dog passed hands? A decent dog wouldn't leave our company. Or was it between digging buddies? How would one of my dogs become famous? Ha messin. I remember a dog called duke Wigan area, I was offered a bitch out of it but was sceptical as breeding was iffy, I was offered a day out with the dog. It was 10 years old, it worked 3 places from light till dark , some stamina, and loved it. Anyone know its breeding? The bitch I had of it was a Jekyll and Hyde . But that duke was a belter, that day. Did Chester produce workers of what ratio, I think if 1 in six graft good these days th
  19. You are dead right mate.....anti dickheads
  20. If there's not much about its 9/10 times down to rifles. Your talking about other people and not yourself, if there's nowt were you go your disturbing things to much and the animals your after will get on to this and be elsewhere . If you hunt you will have respect for your quarry! How can any sane person prolong an animals death, or kill young for no reason?are you talking about this tiny minority of unbalanced individuals who don't deserve a mention. Don't waste your time talking about the idiots, good decent people abound in the dog world , that's why we've lied down and been walked over al
