    I'm slimmer than a super model mate and all the rest of it , I think I'd have sat the season out after 3 . I've lost dogs and SOS my buddies but when we were younger and doing things different , only slightly different ,dogs still go but hey I wouldn't continue if things were that bad ...     Lost four in one season ? How heavy are you mate , are you working single handed , are you putting your animals into sand? that's beyond awfull, are you out digging every day , sory to say it ,but something's going wrong , are you giving yourself enough room when digging etc , it's slightly beyond bad luck pall, I'm thinking of sending some rabbit feet and a few horse shoes .have you any experience working dogs , my god man 4, one season ?     Omg I had a dog identical to Fieldsporthunter's in looks, a crackin dog for a few seasons but just stopped working like that......shocking! The dog was never overmatched and at the time the earths were not too difficult, I've since heard from terrier boys I respect in my area that this was a trait in this type/line, this was maybe 20 years back and yet another learning curve, ha the best line type, breed arnt at the end of your phone, or in a mag , my friend just offered me a mating from a new dog he has of D.Rob, I wish he'd wake up and smell the roses my medicre dogs are better.     Why? Mr bright more been gone a while and any line he had at the time will be well bred out ! I think there are dogs bred by people who live now and is think you would have better luck with an animal from them , many pedigrees if you like are fabricated to suit so best look at the dog and bitch and take it from there .     Does know body's dogs work different to the situation , bay and save themselves when they can and wrestle and hold on other occasions , depending on the mood of the quarry . Strange to think they can only be one or the other ? A good dog knows why he's in there and you waiting with the shovels me thinks? One dog for all occasions surely better than half a dozen to do the same job.

    Don't split hairs on legends ,depends on a number of things , my uncles worked Russell's for 8 hours in bramble for rabbits . Looked rather dishevelled after a days work not all made the grade , only a few and usually by 14 months , these dogs could work 4 days a week .... Don't knock them they were exciting , and I could work judy, Sally, sue, ...... LEGENDS they were red when they came home . But now u keep soil dogs which were a pest back then do ??if they stayed in a hole . Legend . Depends on the work and what's required

    Anyone help me, me my buddy had some nice Russell types in the 70s 80s he went lurchers I went red types , he's asked me in conversation he'd like a Russell again but don't know any all died out asked friend to ask mr green but nowt ? So would like a bitch from stuff that realistically would do a couple of hours , the breeding rights yours and would stick to it and the bitch would be in fab hands, travell anywhere . Money or my stuff in time , baying staying red dogs prett tight bred suits us thanks
