  1. Took the dogs for a walk across some local Land, they was three hares out in the middle of a large field running around in circles, I watched them for a few minutes going round and round and it was good to see, both dogs were on leads and on with our walk we went. We was leaving the fields so I let the lurcher of for a run, he bolted about as normal and all of a sudden he stopped and put his nose down, well two fields latter after pushing through snow drifts I found him with this, a carp!!!! Or large goldfish. I think a herron had took it, but what a nose he's really got for a whippet lurcher.

  3. Like above tag along with your mate, just spend time with your pup putting in the training and getting to know each other. Make training a game and take your time mate. Hope you have many good seasons together. And they is some good folk on here and there's some that knows fcuk all. Atb j
  4. Does any one work a line of pure Bedlington terriers still. I know they is quite a few bedy x worked and they seem to work well but they are not Bedlingtons. The gutchcommon line was pure and from what I can find out the line was all kc and workt well for those who put work in front of them. They must have been many lines of Bedlingtons that worked in the past but today it's Rillington or graniter lines we see. They must be lads working pure blooded Bedlingtons and it would be good to hear how you find them. Atb
  5. Dogs are chilling by the fire,
  6. Having to change water bottles a few times a day, put a bale of straw in with them and filled nest boxes up. My misses wanted to bring them in side but iv found pugs do OK in cold weather it's the heat that kills them. Feeding small amounts stop it freezing and like above given warm milk. Atb
  7. Got to say rabbit, love ferreting watching my dogs work.
  8. Any one know how to make them, I was looking to buy one but found nothing suitable. Iv seen pictures of them made out of old reels used for wire, has anyone made one.
  9. Had a couple good rescue dogs, one was a staffy bitch, rescued her from a fool who booted her if she didn't draw Charlie after a dig, I stopped her from being pts and she went on to b a great ferreting bitch she'd mark, hold netted coney and she was one of the best ratting dogs iv seen. Got a whippet from dog p and he was all round rabbiting dog and took much more. A lot of dogs in rescue have been dumped there for not making the grade, my opinion it's the owners who don't make the grade.
  10. You only get out what you put in, dog don't learn fcuck all at home.
  11. Thanks mate, I must invest in one, some of the best pictures of ratting I have ever seen, good to see the scoty getting in there as well. But the lurchers and the pug haven a go was?. Keep up the good work. Atb Jerry
  12. That's the book I was offering you. Some good information in it. But nothing like getting out ferreting for your self. Just keep it simple, dozen good nets, pug, locator and spade. Atb
  13. If you want a good box then jock makes some quality ones. If I was looking for a ferret, terrier box I'd go to him. I don't like all plastic boxes all the condensation. Stick to wood. Check jocks.
  14. My brother as a springer that he takes ferreting and she does fine.
  15. This Is a great thread in fact the best iv seen for a long time. Pictures are stunning lads keep them coming. What camera are you using, atb Jerry
  16. My mate works at large dog, stock feed manufacturers and I would never feed biscuit to my dogs, all top foods are made at this place and you would never feed your dogs on it if you saw what goes into it, the only protein that goes into all kibble is oils no meat at all. And the odd cat, rat that gets stuck in machines over night.
  17. . My bedyxwhippet and whippets eat fruit, whippet eats melon, Apple, carat, and he will graze on the shoots of the plants. The bedlington blooded bitch will eat anything she sees the male eat and cucumber his her favourite iv even seen her eat leeks when they are getting chopped for stews. B honest nothing safe with her about. Atb
  18. Welcome mate, like you I will be getting a bird this year. My permission still as pheasant, hare, duck, and small pockets of coney so my bird of choice is a Harris I did think about a Goss but this will be my first bird and a mate as a hh and I'm learning as much as I can before getting my chic. Building mews etc at moment just getting bases down. I like the look of redtails are they like a hh in the way they hunt. Atvb j
  19. Welcome mate, keep getting out and you will soon be catching coneys. And this is the right place for those with working dog addictions, atb j
