    I don't think that we will ever agree, on the parent reared verses imprint, so lets agree to disagree, i think the one thing we will agree on is, any Goshawk, parent or imprint must be fit so show it,s full potencial, most parent reared simply are not fit, my imprint was going out the window, morning, afternoon, and night some days, the window hawking is only and "end to a means" to get a hawk confident and fit, nothing else, flying game over pointers is the bi picture. I've heard about these big males, and would love to see one fly !

    Sorry i don't aree with you, and theres lots, of more experienced flyers than me, who would not aree with you as well, 2lb 7 i'd love to see that bird fly, and kill with real, venom, by bird killed pheasants at 1lb 12 1/8 but not in the same style as when he was 1lb 11 1/4, and he was flown 5 to 7 days a week, and was a the peak of fitness, and because he was an imprint and was killing at a much younger age, than a parent reared, he was so confident.

    Sorry mate I'll have to disagree with you there! conditioning is the key to any bird, Its not just about taking a birds weight off! Yep its obviouse its needed at the start as it is with a Imprint but a Keen P/R bird in Hunting condition should fly not far off its top when in its peak condition, hence the saying "Feed them up and fly them hard"... the Finn x Hungarian female I have here came out of the aviary at 2lb 11, I stopped flying her a few weeks before xmas and she was no where near what I would consider half fit, she finished off flying a tad under 2lb 7, I'm pretty sure if I made the

    Ok there.. .. Falconry is a very old sport which date's back a lot of year's.. im not sure of the date's but it is a few year's back.. was imprinting on the menu then.. .. Im with the old traditional way personaly and if you can not do it properly give it up as a bad job.. or look down other avanue's. Millet Move with the times, do you go to work by car or on horse back, were do you keep your hawk food, i'll have one guess in a freezer, and what about telemetry, the list goes on. As i said move with the times, parent reared are not for me, i would'nt have one free to good home.

    No mate not the Darkside! suffering fools is not something alot of us have ever been able to come to terms with. if the flights are gennine and you're having some good sport then its good and we all want to know about them! lets face it we all have the same interested at heart. But have you Daz!! you need to realise that P/R and Imprints are all the same bird but reared by different methods!! both birds when in condition have the same capabilities, the difference is with a Imprint the Manning is done in the Rearing from a downy and with the P/R birds the Manning is done when the bird is P

    What's that meant to mean.. .. I dont mind reading genuine falconry topic's from how it's meant to be done from day's gone by where quarry was walked upon for hour's on end to secure a good flight and kill.. and if you dont like anything i say.. TOUGH.. .. Millet Don't tell me about walking after quarry for hours on end. From the second week in october to the 6th of jan 08, the only hawking this hawk did was field hawking, at least 5 days a week and as a rule 7 days a week, after 12.30 mon tue wed and fri, thurs sat and sun start 9, 10 am till dark every time out, pheasants are thin

    Hi sherman very good total for a young bird, i have booked a PR male from the same breeder, but not sure to go imprint, what advice could you give, kind regards Some people prefer parent reared,if you've got the time to spend with it manning it ,and if thats what you prefer, so be it, they have got better manners, and if you keep them hunting, there nice and quiet, if you don't get them enough kills, and they come to expect food from you they will usually start to "call". As "Jasper" rightly said all the manning with an "imprint" is done during the rearing, from downy to fully fle
