I'm cracking up with this thread fact of the matter is unless you catch them in the act what can you do really? Old bill won't give 2 monkeys f**K unless they are there and you can see them. I totally agree leaving stuff behind is wrong we all know that. Personally I'd not consider old bill and if you don't use a lamp anymore then the landowner must know it's not you therefore leave it to him to call old bill that way it's not on your head. No need for threats from anyone really we all no the game and all love the sport. Yes there are wronguns in the game always have been always will be

Dry Food.... To Soak Or Not To Soak
Saltmoon replied to CARADOCMICK's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Yer I was told by a friend who's a vet it's a big no no as kills what ever nutrients are left in the dry food. Dogs will lose condition and gloss to there coat within weeks if keep boilin kibble. I've never done it feed after feed I've done it when they have gone off there food just to give them a change but it's not regular. If I have to do it again I'll just leave to soak for a few hours instead -
Not seeing much in the usual places but tonight coming home across the moor I saw a few rabbits hoping around and looked healthy not seen them there before not a massive population I don't think but nice to see them in these places doing well

Dry Food.... To Soak Or Not To Soak
Saltmoon replied to CARADOCMICK's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Never heard of that but would like to know more if possible. Like said it's rare that I do it but I have in past and I've always put boiling water over it never a problem with them but if there is a possibility of problems I won't do it again -
Friend of mine had a little staffy and it had the devil in it nice as pie to his owner and family but anyone else not a chance. They had to put a spring on its chain as it was braking leather collars or pulling the screw out of the post at the end of the chain. He came home once to find a delivery man on top of his truck because the dog wouldn't let him go. It was a pain in the ass really as he had no command to attack he just did it to everyone no matter what (unless family) he'd nearly had me a few times but for a dog called bullet he wasn't that fast haha

Dry Food.... To Soak Or Not To Soak
Saltmoon replied to CARADOCMICK's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
If I soak it rarely to be honest I chuck boiling water on before I go for a walk with them and it's done and cooled down for when I get home. But I just have 2 massive water bowls in the kennel and feed them dry. And same for the pup in the house -
I wouldn't go wondering in to any sites with not knowing any of them as you'll only get the opposite of what you want. Just keeps your wits about you when walking them and such different routes and such. Or if you have a very trusted friend or family round you see if you can put the dogs there a couple of weeks and if possible take the kennel away for a few weeks as well if there's nothing there to take then they won't be coming back. And invest in a nice shiney bit of 4x2 and keep that by the back door ?

If be training that Shepard to savage anyone who comes over your wall. Air rifle won't kill them but will hurt like buggery. Atb with it all hope they carry on there way and leave you and your dogs be.

Looking For Some Advice On My Dog
Saltmoon replied to Lurcherdog96's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Mine did this darkest nights he'd hunt up I tried all sorts but he got the message when the lamp turned off and I walked the other way ruined a alot of nights out and I had to cut them short more often then not but after a while he got the message that if he didn't come back when the lamp went off then it's back to the car and home. Time effort and patience is what done it for me. Atb with him -
My sprocker was a bugger for sheep didn't want to attack them but just see them up close I used a long rope let him start to run then pulled him good and hard but I was very close to getting a electric collar for him like said used properly they are a very good tool.

seen some real good springers over the years, that beating, bushing, and a peg dog, and one of the guns used his dog wild fowling as well, this was fair sized strong male . the gun had labs as well , but i think he liked to use the springer most dont know what lines it was , this was in 80s . i did have a chat few times with the owner , and i always thought spaniels were hard work compared to labs, but this bloke said just lots of patience is the key, like with any breed of dog, but as you say some lines are prob more hard work than others . My Springer has a dash of ritex bre

Hi bud I've a Springer and a sprocker not for sale not sure how well you know these types but my sprocker and others I've seen are very strong headed little blighters. Mine has good days where he won't put a foot wrong and others where he dose what he wants when he wants. Springer is spot on every time on the button ..... if go Springer if you can in my view stay away from ritex lines and go for a badger court line if possible they seem to be more level headed ? in my view

Not even read any comments to this post but I really don't understand lads working their dogs before muscle and bone are not fully developed and apart from not been phisyically ready they are not mentally ready at this age, agree or disagree but it's a fact ? Only had one lurcher before this one that was a rescue and he was 18 months old so I was looking for advice on when to start like I've said I'm in no rush just after advice ?? atb
