  2. I fire the gun and it fires fine, but when i work the bolt , the bolt comes back but without the spent case which stays in the barrel.
  3. I took my new howa 1500 sporter out tonight for the first time. I was 8 shots into setting the sights when it stopped ejecting!?! Im using "40 grain hornady v max moly" Whats going wrong? the bolt, the rifle or the ammo? or am i doing something wrong? help desperately needed. cheers
  4. Its queer you say that as out of everything ive tried, and so far ive tried loads of different ways, the wine type sauces are the only ones i cant get away with. The red wine sauce with the rabbits was particularly awful. Im barbequing it this weekend, should be fun! Ive had bbq squirrel plenty of times but not rabbit. I'll report my findings!
  5. I used to train "extreme fighting" for a couple of years. I really enjoyed it and learnt loads but I wasnt much good, i would come home covered in blood, which looked impressive but most of the time it was my blood! Seriously, if i was 10 years younger i would put my name down , but at 36 im too old for it. Nowhere near as fit as the young lads.
  6. You might want to consider self defence classes instead of carrying weapons? a slap with the palm of your hand against the ear will stop just about anyone, as would a punch to the throat. Lots of other things that can stop an attacker dead rather than carrying. It would be wise to learn these tricks first.
  7. If you hit or hurt somebody with a weapon specific for that purpose then you will be breaking the law. An example would be if you were in your house and a burglar came into your room and you jumped up and grabbed the first thing you clapped eyes on, say, a glass, and stuck it in his face you would have an excuse-spur of the moment reaction. BUT if you heard burglars, went to the kitchen, got a glass out of the cupboard then stuck it in his face , this would be premeditated-do you see the difference? Now in your scenario, carrying a hammer or knife specifically for self defence would be il
  8. Im having trouble working out how many foxes number three shot. Will you ask him to put fingers in the air, this helps me counting. ta

Marinate it in Soya source for one hour; add chopped red chilly and garlic. Now make a mix of bread crumb, bunny get dumped into beaten eggs, rolled in the bread crumb, placed on a tray and baked for 30 mins in oven, when ready serve with salad of your choice, make sure the greens you use on the salad are fresh and crunchy. Thanks for that irish lurcher, im going to try that this weekend.
  11. Im very tempted to give burgers a go. Does the meat bind together ok if no fat is added?
  12. Howa 1500 sporter in .223 with nighteater 8-32x44 scopes and a jet z mod
  13. Just be yourself mate. If your sensible and have no skeletons in your closet that you havent penned on your application form, you will be fine.
  14. It could be worse. In zimbabwe they have a president that no-one likes and was never voted in!!!....................oh wait, so have we
  15. Not so much living off the land, but money saving. Me and 'er indoors drink tea and coffe like its going out of fashion. Our kettle is on at least 30 times a day. Our leccy bills were sky high and the majority was down to the kettle, so , because the price of electric has doubled roughly in a year( gas nowhere near as much), we bought a whistling kettle for the gas hob- MASSIVE savings, really. If you drink a lot of tea, seriously consider one of these , they are a tenner at argos and the money we have saved has been incredible!
  16. John, reloading is something i am very interested in. Is there a rough calculation/rule of thumb as to how many shots you fire per month as to whether it would benefit you ie; say if you fire 40 a month or more reloading pays for itself, less than 40 dont bother? trappa
  17. 18p a squeeze is a bloody great price! i will enquire with my local rfd.
  18. Cheers for the replys. Im pacing stuff out now, fields im in especially so im getting better. I will defo be using the mildots, it will just be practice , thats all.
  19. great idea mate, im pally with my local butcher so its got to be worth a try
  20. Im about sorted now for getting my .223 up and running. My mod comes tomorrow, finally! I will post some pics up tomorrow night. Anyway, i'll be out zeroing in these coming nights so i want to get my ammo right. Its a howa 1500 with a 1-12 twist, am i right in thinking this will happily fire a lighter bullet? Is there a reccomended bullet to start with, or is it a case of trying different sizes, makes etc to find one that suits? I got given a box of 40grn hornady v-max with said gun, is it wise to stick with these or up to 50grn. (its for fox) cheers trappa
  21. Off on a slight tangent, im hoping that the "affliction banned" night is on the fight network, they seem to be plugging it quite a bit.
  22. If its a 20 acre plot your on and its for rabbits mainly, i would reckon a .22 rimmy would be ample sufficient. If youve got more, then a 17hmr seems to be a popular choice for longer range shots. Im no expert by a long way, but i would doubt a flo will give a first timer a licence for all 4 rimmies, then again who knows, each police force is different. The which is safer , 22 or 17 is a bit of a hot potato, with pros and cons for both, but your right that once you get one on a licence, it costs to get another added. If youve only shot an airgun a 22 rimmy would be my choice.
  23. Just looked on bravo2. They are showing old ufc's this week. I might be wrong (i often am)!! but i was told setanta have bought the ufc rights from 86 onwards, meaning bravo and others can show old ufc's- 85 and before , but setanta have the rights from 86 onwards. Like i said, i hope your right, but i dont think you are. trappa
