  10. Right, i went back last night and caught nothing, so set some more for overnight and..................nothing again! Im not sure if im doing anything wrong or if its just bad luck as there are plenty rabbits here. Im setting the snares about 4 fingers high and making sure the tealers are not on the runs themselves. Im also worried about catching cats, im guessing it can happen and there are a couple of cats in the vicinity. Any help from you experts? I did have a look out with my rifle and shot roughly 20 which was ok but i would have swapped all 20 for one in the snare.
  11. Ive just been out and set my first snares. Im a complete amateur but im going to give it a go. Ive only set 15 snares, but i reckon i will try to get it right first before im setting hundreds. i did a couple the "schoolkid" way ie; tieing loose snare to a fence at the run but the others ive set with tealers on the runs. Im going to go back tonight and see what ive done, though i think it will be the night when they come out to play properly. What would the experts reckon would be a half decent ratio of rabbits to snares? Im going to take the camera tomrrow to take some snaps and will hopef
  12. Nice story mate. i like THL, its got a good share of genuine fellas and bullshitters. I personally like a mooch, im good at some stuff and shite at other stuff but i enjoy what i do and enjoy sharing my experiences.
  13. Theres plenty in my allotment!

  15. He will get his cumuppence inside. The screws will give him a hiding before the cons do.
  16. Just wondering what you kids are foraging at the moment? Its not a great time of the year. Young bunnies are about, they taste nice, and wild garlic too, but not much else really. Anyone collecting something i should be?!?! In the allotment there is plenty rhubarb, but thats about it.
  17. Im very intrested in the snares, im just about to buy some. if you let me know roughly what you want for the snares please.
  18. Im no expert but ive shot fox with a 22lr and a .223 and i cant fault the .223, its a great fox calibre. If i was looking for a gun just for fox, nothing else, then i wouldnt look further than a 223.
  19. Some of us do it for a living not for sport. If a farmer asks you to cull rabbits this time of year and it pays the bills you do it im afraid. I was shooting yesterday, and will be continuing to do so throughout the year. I feel physically sick when i gut a rabbit and its full of young but its one of those things im afraid.
  20. Thanks clint, that makes sense, cheers
  21. 44 dead foxes hanging from trees! FFS, thats some serious shit! If the farmer requests , i hang moles from the fence so he can see what i got, and that is fairly common on a few farms - but i still feel like its a little victorian to do that! but to hang foxes on trees!, thats not victorian-its neanderthal!
