  1. nice post, 3oz sounds like a lot to me, is that a normalish lead? iv doner a little dropshotting this year but never bothered with buying the actual kit, i just used a few nuts haha
  2. my pup did it from day 1 but to be honest i didnt mind it that much 'cos it stopped her from just lying down and not wanting to walk on the lead. shes 20 weeks now and as others have said shell grow out of it. she rarely does it now, mostly when its tight or if we are on a road for a while and she gets bored
  3. good lucking pup mate, mine could get where water couldnt at that age now 10 weeks later i can't believe she could get under the TV stand lol
  4. prints might not help, most people use gloves when setting them. very irresponsible. another set of clowns giving hunting/trapping a bad name.
  5. i dont get it OP said scotland is gods country but scotland isnt even in yorkshire ? :S im proper confused
  6. cheers lads, i dont want it to actually catch a squirrel lol i just wanted pup to see it and chase it but 'cos its a squirrel not a rabbit and climbing from tree to tree its a very slow chase without knackering the dog out but still having fun chasing quarry. tbh i just wanted reassurance that the odd run isnt going to mess her up later on. but she is very fit and never tire her out too much. i used to take the terrier on one really long walk but iv started doing 2 shorter ones so it isnt too much for the pup
  7. cheers mate, yeah although shes always Followed me around and that, the bond has proper clicked over last Few days. i cant believe how much shes come along already, i wasnt thinking oF even starting any training yet but the amount oF commands and tricks shes learnt just From watching and copying my other dog is amazing.
  8. cheers lads, i dont do much rabbit trapping mostly squirrel. i try to get them as deep as possible, i just thought the trap worked by jumping up slightly and catching. ill Fill in as many as possible the holes are mostly under bushes. there is a Fair bit oF Fallen wall around ill use. the double hole i was talking about 1 is slightly bigger than the other i take it Fill the smaller one in? i check them every 12 hours as they are pretty close to home.
  9. howdo, got myselF a lurcher pup and i am in need oF some skins For training. (shes destroyed all my squirrel ones lol) i have used Fenns in burrows beFore so im not really looking For trapping advice more so legal advice lol how deep does the Fenn have to be in the burrow beFore it counts as in a tunnel? cos when i went to set a couple the other day i came across like a double hole, angled about 20 degrees apart and i thought i F i bring the trap a little Further back than i normally would i could almost be covering both holes but i also thought its not 100% coveredthoughts???? should
  10. cheers lads, it wasnt so much letting the pup be a pup i was worried about it was more when shes dicking about with terrier she goes mental Flat out , then literally over one gate and she was on the rabbit hah ill just have to make sure iF she does come across one thats her only one then.
  11. reyt lads new to owning a lurcher and aFter reading on here. its worrying me that shes doing too much. (probs being silly like) other day i was out in park just a steady walk with both dogs oFF lead (got a terrier as well) and the terrier spotted a bunny and bolted, pup chased the terrier but then clocked the bunny and ran it. probably went on about 40 metres maybe a little more. she gets walked twice a day probably totaling an hour more on some days and she also gets a bit oF retrieving practice and some recall work a day. . they dont go too mental on the walks apart From a section there a
  12. my bitch "robyn" at about 11 weeks (shes 16week now) she seemed to be able to get where water couldnt at that age lol looking dignified and disciplined or a change in the 1st pic and trying to kill a squirrel skin in the 2nd
  13. sometimes when out on a walk and i come across a working dog whatever the breed and get chatting to the owner, ill ask "do you work them?" and they are always very sheepish till they realise they arent talking to an anti lol
  14. i have the same issue with my pup except she doesnt eat her own she eats the cats, i think the cats starting to get a bit violated between me and the pup checking her litter box every hour haha good tip on the banana and pineapple but i cant give that to the cat lol
  15. iv got a terrier bitch who does it like a dog, cocks her leg about 50% o the time but has to wee on every corner/post/etc. she is very social but likes her space but when she comes across a nice young pup and makes mates she sometimes tries to piss on it. also got a lurcher pup (bitch) who will waz on other pups. mental
  16. haha maybe a bit of both, to be honest i wish i did buy the bodygrip traps but id already handled mk 6 fenns so i thought best to stick to something i knew i used Peanut butter as bait but i ran out other day and tried marmalade lol, didnt work back to PB biscuits sound good and cheap lol i liked the peanut butter cos they cant run off with it and have to scrape it off but i suppose crumbled biscuit would work
  17. oh and defo no whacking involved or air rifle and dog didnt chew on it. sometimes there is blood around the nose/mouth but i think this happened because of the eye bulging, unless it survived for a while and bled out, but the spine was really wobbly so i cant imagine that.
  18. took the gorey ones off, i left the crown jewels shot on 'cos it relates to post.
  19. just how it was caught, i prefer the catches where it gets them behind the neck and back no blood then, i'll take it down like but this was how i found it. unless i'm mistaken its an approved trap, it was in a cubby. why would you sensor real life, especially on a trapping section of a hunting forum. even in my post i mentioned i hid my cubby from other users of the wood. i wouldnt flash this in someones face who didnt wanna see it.
  20. sounds about right, cheers atb so i shouldnt worry about trying to make the trigger pan lighter?
  21. hi all i have a shooting permission in some woodlands the owner uses as the place to teach people horse riding originally he was happy with me and another lad having a go with the air rifles. anyway a few week ago the dog chased off a squirrel which dropped a dead chick (dont quote me but i believe blackbird/starling) anyway he said he wants some trapping too now. so i bought 3 mk 4 fenns and i already had 3 baited areas so i set the traps on the floor behind the bait stations behind a tree in a cubby so the young dears riding their ponys wont see a dead squirrel. i have had up to now 7 squir
  22. iv got a soft spot for jays lol dunt see many round here. good shooting
  23. Yeah mate, i suppose its in almost every dog really.
  24. went out today to check my new squirrel permission for airgunning. iv set three non permanent feeding stations up( just pnut butter) just to find out where they prefer to go then get a proper one erected. took my girlfriends dog with me a yorkie x with a laparapsu, been a lapdog for 6 years never known more than a little walk round local field till i moved in 6 month ago,, anyway got to the first feeder two squirrels on it one took straight off other thought he was hidden behind a branch but i smashed it with my trusty cattie and hit it in the leg (obv i try to get proper kills, usually do
