  1. The action screw locations on 452 models are not all the same. On .22LR's, with which I am most familiar, the American has an action screw in front of the magazine and at the rear tang. On the Varmint and Lux models the action screws are in front of the mag well and to a barrel lug. Something else to keep in mind is that 22WMR mag wells are larger than on .22LR. The biggest shortcoming in .22WMR accuracy in general, of course, is the ammo, of which there is none of match quality; there is a great deal of variation in quality from brand to brand and lot to lot. For bedding information,
  2. Hello, everyone. I'm from Canada and grew up at a time when firearms were viewed very differently here than they are now. I bought my first, a shotgun, at a local shop when I was 16, simply by having enough money and a hunting licence. Back then in Canada, one didn't need any special permit, just to be an adult or a licenced hunter if underage. I hunted as a youth and young man and then the responsibilities of continuing education and later work and family kept me from doing much of it. I returned to shooting several years ago, when I rediscovered airguns. I shot a lot of AA and Weihrauc
  3. The CZ is the best "bang for the buck," to use an Americanism. If you can still find a 452 you should seriously consider it. More expensive, but better, is the Sako Finnfire II, which has an action as smooth as butter, and is very well built, too. Anschutz rifles are superb. The 1416 model in .22LR is excellent.
  4. The Tikka's are available in both a 1:8 or 1:12 twist. It's a good rifle. The manufacturer guarantees three-shot MOA groups. I recently had a T3X Varmint with a 1:8 barrel and it was very accurate with 55 grain and heavier bullets. The CZ 527 is another good rifle in .223. It has a single set trigger which makes it great for hunting and shooting from the bench.
  5. Late post as I joined only today. The Anschutz 525 is an Anschutz-designed rifle made by Marocchi of Italy. Often standard velocity ammo doesn't cycle well in semi auto .22LR rifles. Try HV and the results might improve.
