  1. Found a jar with a load of Sten gun heads in,they havnt been fired so either never loaded or dismantled? perhaps a tad heavy but certainly carry a punch, used to dig the 25 yard range out in Germany in 53 and they accounted for a large number of rabbits (pre mixie days) now in the truck ready for disposal via theraband gold?
  2. Have a variety of shop bought hung up in garage, my shooter is home made, strag cut out of plywood and powered by double theraband gold with a nice soft pouch. a bag of 100 marbles from pound land for practice and 9mm lead ball for meat, works a treat?
  3. Yes, did that as well, but used to get 1000s of ball. Bearings from the blacksmiths at the pit, the ones out of belt rollers, they used to repair them then, about. 1/8 inch so carried well, but covered in grease so had to clean them as best we could.happy days
  4. I used to shoot 6/7 small ball bearings at once, ️shot a fair few starlings on the wing, more a ️Shotgun pattern but it worked, had to be carful that they were centralised in the pouch, or OUCH.
  5. Well it's finaly knitted together, got a nice piece of skin jutting up like a forsight, don't think I will use it as such
  6. Well I am not going to try a ️️shot cam on the catapult and re enact. Recon at least another 5/6 weeks before it heals across, Never mind I at least know how and why it happened so will look on it as educational( ouch.)
  7. Yes. Have put tabs on strag, used to use old braces but have used para cord, no abrasion now, a lot better.
  8. Yes, know what you mean. That I can still pull and enjoy is the main thing. Using double T/B gold, still life in it on full stretch, have had some crap stuff in the past. Keep stretching.
  9. The time it takes me to heal about 3 months.
  10. Well, look on the bright side, the rabbit was happy.
  11. Pulled the truck up and a nice rabbit sat in sunshine at 20yards. 410 no, catapult will do so in goes a 38 calibre lead ball arm out the window and start to stretch.and then the pain began, left elbow caught stearing. wheel and caused a half pulled ️️shot resulting in half inch of skin from trigger finger knuckle. One educated rabbit that knows a few swear words, been pulling lastic76 years and this to happen is embarrassing. Lesson learned
  12. ️Shot a few reloads of on clays on Sunday, some shooters hadn't seen black powder ️️shot up until then, Fired a couple of rounds on skeet and ball trap after then ussual clean with mop and oil etc no sighn of black powder residue.
  13. Snarepeg. Used to spend hours sat near the pheasant pen whittling pegs from already split wood. Rifle within reach, ️️shot quite a bit of vermin, multi tasking I called it.
  14. Still useing stuff collected over the years. But a good powder for normal cartridges loading 24 gram to 32 is AS from C&G. Using recovered ️️shot at the moment but stocks exhausted from supplier ????? Looks like the ️️shot dropper being fired up at some point if no more available. . john
  15. No problem Phil. Have a 366 Pacific in 20 guage. 300/350 per hour ( not for sale) Your welcome to have a look at this, near Bawtry. John
  16. Home made ️️shot is the way to go for saving money, been dropping it for 50years but lead getting harder to source now. Wheel weights are now made with alloy? Houses built with plastic pipes etc. Loading 410 and 28guage and your in the money, 20/16/12 with shop bought components not worth the effort, and probably work out dearer unless bulk buying components. But still have a fair bit to load so will carry on.
  17. I always fire a few nitro felt wad thru after black, removes most if not all black powder residue. Then clean as normal, i spray Legia oil down both barrels after. John
  18. I have but HAVNT a clue how to show them on here. John
  19. Built ours onto an old caravan base, about12x8. Four corner posts and chicken wire with a door. Wire tube from top to about a foot from base 3foot wide at top down to about 18 at bottom. Tow it round to various parts of shoot and cought mainly crows and magpies, simple and very affective
  20. Certainly made a few heads turn. Gave them warning when fireing them, lots of smoke and a sheet of flame 2 feet out of muzzle end. Few people tried them and were impressed by softer recoil, (they were light loads) but the breaks were good(so I was told). John
  21. Well weather stayed nice. Good strong breeze that helped with second ️shot. Managed the middle stand on skeet including the double but failed on a couple of singles. Enjoyed the moment and look forward to my next session at clays.john
  22. Just loading cartridges now, 67 grains of black, card wad and a felt on top with 1 oz of ️️7 shot for clays,( ussualy 30 gram 6s for the pheasant) Nice pleasant load to fire and ussually does the trick, loading into nice new paper capped cases 65mm and roll turnover. Now you pair have got my adrenalin going again so looking forward to Sunday, think I will really pull the plug out and shoot a full round at skeet. Just hope it's breezy for the doubles. John
  23. Hope these stories don't put people of trying black powder. Will load a few up for clays on Sunday. Probably drop one into a friends pocket but they all have a good sense of humour,( well most of them) Hope weather stays nice gents. John
  24. Still have glass bits in me, my powder flask blew up with spark left in barrel, well my mothers best glass salt cellar, I had made a muzzle loading rifle from an old rifle barrel,(Webley mk11 service) and salt cellar fitted the .22 barrel fine. Nearly blinded, lost lots of blood and not a hair on my head, doctor peddled up 2 hours after, ordered ambulance which never arrived. Hospital on bus for operation to remove large piece of cellar bottom from right palm, looking at it now as I type and someone smiled on me that day. No body phoned police and it was heard for quite a distance, no cell
