Had my two done 2 1/2 months ago. It was £8 each. One of them is now starting to come back in season again
-
Cheers, that's what I was unsure of. She's now eating like she's half starved to make up for it! Something else learned!
-
Well I took them for the jab today, great service, took only a couple of minutes and a total bill of £40!
-
It's knotts yard vets in Watton. I have got a similar price from several other vets now, one in sheringham and other in downham market
-
Yes, it's a shame, but you can't beat yourself up about it. It was a mistake, but I'm sure it will never happen again. I've never kept a hob. What are they like if you only get them vas? Some people say they are aggressive in season, stink to high heaven and can be a pain
-
Thanks for all the info. I've now found a vet that charges £19 for the consultation and £8 per ferret for the Jill jab. They will also do the implant for £87. I haven't decided to get them spayed or get a vas hob in future, at least this will give me more time
-
Unfortunately I don't know anyone else with ferrets to share the cost. I don't really want to cough up nearly £500 for 2 implants!
-
Hello, I've just made a few phone calls to local vets, only one will do the Jill jab which is £150 for the pair as the bottle has to be disposed of the same day, or they have offered the implant which is £121 for the 4.7 or £233 for the 9.4. Seems bloody expensive to me. I haven't got a hob, so can't get him snipped. Is there anyone my way that gets the jab at a reasonable price?

Hello, a bit of background to start off. Ive had the ferrets about 6 weeks now. The nails were over grown, so I trimmed these and gave them both a dose of spot-on as the younger one looked like it had ear mites. They had been fed on cat food, so I stopped this and fed a varied mix of fresh meat, heart, kidney and liver. They wolfed it down and the oldest piled on the weight. I took them ferreting for the first time just under 2 weeks ago and have been 4 times, they have been getting more exercise than ever, but ive noticed in the last couple days that the oldest one is looking a little thinne

Well I went for my second try on my own today. I even managed to keep the collar on the younger Jill! I put the youngest Jill down a little 4 holer, she was apprehensive at first, but after a several sniffs, she soon went down, and out anther hole. Well I went back to the 12 holer I thought I was getting the run around on a few days ago. Put both jills in, but after 5 mins they popped up again, so I put them in another couple of holes and nothing. I then tried around the base of a tree with 3 holes. I soon put the older jill down, and after 15 mins had a quick scan with the finder. 10ft down,

I'm gagging to go again! That small Jill is going to have that collar on even if I have to staple it there! It seems very tight, I can barely spin it, but the little sod gets if off in seconds
-
Cheers. I did also think could they have been a badger. There were a few scrapes that had defined claw marks. Shame, as there must be 30-40 rabbit holes just above and to the side of them.

Well after a day long netting with dogs and ferrets with Simon Whitehead, I had learned the basics, I thought I better give the two jills a go! I had brought these two jills, mother and daughter 'pet' ferrets just over a month ago, they had never been worked, so it was a bit of a gamble, but hey ho, isnt everything? After buying all the gear, I thought it was time to use it! After waking up to light sleet, I had a cuppa, and luckily the sleet eased off. Time to put the ferrets collars on. Well whatever I seem to do, the daughter always seems to get the bloody thing off in seconds, and this m

Well I've just brought a mk3m with 2 collars. Brand new for 243.99 delivered. Didn't think it was a bad price.
-
I'm talking about the mark 3 that is still available to buy. The mark 1 is discontinued, so has rarity value which will push prices up
-
Well a second hand one with two collars sold for £190 tonight, plus nearly a tenner postage. You can buy new for £50 more, with a warranty and never been used, I think it's a no brainer. I would never spend % of a new one for something second hand.
-
They are only making silly money second hand because people are willing to pay it!
-
How they have been holding their money, I'm just going to buy new. A new unit and 2 collars will work out £250. There is someone wanting £250 for a second hand one on eBay.
-
Been following a few mk3m finders on ebay, and I cant fathom out why they are so expensive second hand in relation to new price? You can buy a new one with collar for £165, so why are people spending £130 on a second hand one? Must be mad
-
Yes it gave me a good load of knowledge and I would happily go on my own now. The dog was worth its weight in gold, but I haven't got one, and with everything else I won't be getting one. I did notice the mk3 was generous in the depth. A 4 ft hole was only a 3ft dig etc. As a commercial netsman, I did have a good look over stop and long nets to see how they are rigged. They are so basic compared to commercial fishing nets, so I will soon have a few of them on the go!
-
Well it may seem funny about the digs, but its all dependent on terrain. If you have a layer of rock with 2 foot of soil on top then you will never dig 5Ft. Simon was more than willing to dig himself, but you dont learn much fiddling with your fingers in your pockets. I thought it was good experience of the local terrain, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the ferrets were at 12ft, but they soon moved on fortunately
-
Well I went today with Simon, and it was a cracking day. He didnt use purse nets, but long and stops nets due to his dog, and i learned a fair bit. Nice approachable bloke and his mate Lee were soon showing me how its done. It wasnt just a watching session, he soon got me involved, doing a big of digging, showing me how the ferret finder worked, and having a play with the probe. It wasnt long before I was pulling up rabbits and dispatching them in the long and stop nets. His dog definitely knew the game in progress. Even as the sun was falling below the trees, Lees ferrets were getting tired,

Tescos. If iodine has been added, usually potassium iodide or another compound is listed on the ingredients

Half the year we drift net herring and sprats. Very little mackerel the last few years. In the summer we do a little potting for crabs and lobsters, and put a few trammels over for a few sole, bass and roker. We used to line for cod in the winter, but last few years have been no cod here. We also used to get some bass in the summer on the lines, all between 8-16lb. Cracking fish. The last few years have been very hard. There hasn't been hardly any herring this year either which is very strange. We usually limit the nets to only 10 and get 100+ stone everyday, but I think all the high pressures
