  1. i trapped these over a moose carcass (road kill) ,a roadways fella with a hiab craned it on my truck for me . i have called in wolves and coyotes and lynx before ,but its not easy in bc as its real wilderness not ranchland and predators are more spread out. its not easy to get large bags like it is in alberta and further east. most of the tv shows are in ranches
  2. heres an old photo of one of my best days 2 timber wolves and 2 coyotes
  3. Let me know if you want me to point you In right direction I used to get loads of predators when I was out there
  4. You can hunt coyote ,raccoon and skunks In bc canada With a small game license from government office in any town No guide needed for small game And non residents can hunt small game with no guide You will need hunter ed though that is a weekend course
  5. blue tick hounds are used in N america also, for black bear ,cougars and other nasties
  6. Take a coat. I was in Evanston, in June, and it snowed! I've got a hand me down bow that I'm learning on. I want to shoot traditional for a while before I even attempt a compound. I know the weights are lower, and they're much more difficult but it's a skillset that fascinates me. Chris hows the practice coming on ? i missed that you were shooting a trad bow. atb Dan
  7. Antler point restrictions used to drive me mad .the amount of bulls I called in but couldn't shoot .so frustrating Some bull moose never have minimum 2 points And some huge mule deer never have more than 3 points
  8. Born In n America sometimes you don't get a choice on animal age In bc were I lived You were only allowed 2 point bull moose Elk has to be 6 points minimum Mule deer has to be 4 point minimum It was done to make it harder to harvest a animal
  9. Better meat too I'd disagree with that! Best to shoot a young bison when my mate shot his bull.He gave me a box of wraped meat from it and it was very tough Like chewing a leather belt Lol He said he wished he hadn't shot a mature bull. I am meant to be moose hunting with him at the moment.but I coudent make it this season .but will do next year.there early rut now
  10. Bear in mind it's a national park and that bison season is September through June, it'll probably be opened for culling in the winter. National parks forbid hunting, albeit this being a special case. It'll probably be on foot and snow mobiles. Sneaking up on them won't be an issue. Finding 500 animals in 1150 sq miles might be an issue though!thats twice the size of England its about 737280 acres or roughly 32 miles by 32 miles
  11. good luck on that then LOL how big an area is the hunt ? the herds in canada roam for hundreds of square miles, Zero chance without a vehicle or horse i would have to check the hunting regs but i am sure you cant carry a damn rifle on anything apart from your shoulder Surely you can find the herd from a horse or quad .and then hunt on foot from there Also your going to need to pack out a 1 ton plus animal No easy task with a vehicle a mile away. No chance with no vehicle or horse The wet skin of a bison alone is 2 hundred pounds plus
  12. just googled kaibab plateau its 9200 ft highest point and 1152 square miles area . thats a tough hunt on foot, be great with pack horses
  13. good luck on that then LOL how big an area is the hunt ? the herds in canada roam for hundreds of square miles, Zero chance without a vehicle or horse
  14. A canadian friend of mine shot one in far north BC canada, He said it was an easy animal to hunt, the hard part was locating the herd, he said it was -30 every day in january. which was tough, quad bikes are hard to start at -30 temps cheers Dan
  15. thats the great thing about hunting in usa and canada ,there,s lots of opertunity for every citizen to hunt,
  16. have you thought about a hunting recurve or longbow ? There lots of fun, and with lots of practice you can get surprisingly accurate. Took me a good year to learn how to shoot it LOL but that was with no lessons, just you tube.
  17. that reminds me of my worst job as a changing room attendant at a well known ladies underwear shop. HORRIBLE JOB
  18. Halo Dan, it the one in the picture is a 375h&h but I also shoot a 470ne...it helps a bit for the big stuff...and yes Elephant is a hard hunt, walking miles and miles just to get to that lone bull, big tusker, but the age is not right, so you have to let him go... lovely rifle and great cartridge .375hh i used to have a sako kodiak in .375hh used to reload rounds from 250gr to 380 gr. what i like about the .375hh is the recoil was quite managable. Didnt seem much more than a .300win mag .I think it was down to very good case design with the shallow taper. are you a PH Savanna ? ch
  19. I cringe when I see all the bros hanging around the shops listening to that black gangster rap shit. Caps on backwards, trousers round their knees, riding the little brother's bike ? LOL I thought it was just exclusive to the council estate I live on. No, mate ! We get them round here. I once came out of the off license (I was topping the electric key up !) and I almost broke my neck on a bike discarded right outside the door. The lad laughed, but he didn't see the funny side when I started jumping my 15 1/2 stone up and down on it......F*** 'em.......jumped up little tw4ts ! I'm sur
