IVE caught lots of em mate , this was my biggest ever. I caught him in a 330 double sping in a WOODEN box with snow shoe hare for bait.
cats are really easy to trap which is why i dont believe they exist here. There so curios you can use visual lures to attract them .i used to use a birds wing on a piece of string Which works a treat. there easy to trap but hard to hunt without dogs
cheers Dan
heres a picture of a lynx i trapped for " referance" on size, there feet are easily as big as a cougars so they can run on top of deep snow.Eeasily 4" diametre around. There claws are like razors. And there canines are about 1.5 inches long this one weighed 32#
I personally dont believe there is a population of big cats in uk.
cheers Dan
waxing bird shot wont do any damage, but is pointless as the shot just opens on impact so no penatration improvements.
you can also remove birdshot and replace with buckshot. as long as you dont exceed the weight of shot.people where its legal. replace birdshot with solid balls or slugs
which work fine as long as no tight choke and you dont exceed weight of shot (ie if using 30 gram loads make sure buck or ball or slug doesnt exceed 30 grams)
cheers Lads
hes eating two pots of beta puppy per day and a egg or cubic 1 " piece of cheese and a chicken thigh
he dont look fat to me but i thought id get your opinions as i thought the vet was talking bollox.
have a great weekend Dan
Hi Greyman
I dont disbelieve you but i have some questions ?
so the photo was of a 2/3 month old cub you think ! a cub of that age wouldnt be much differant in size to a big moggy would you agree ?
have there been any cases of domestic dogs been killed, as big cats love killing dogs for food.?
I do have a little experiance with wild cats as ive trapped a few lynx in canada and ive seen leopards in africa.
i lived in canada and saw a lot of cougar sign but never a 100% confirmed sighting. They aint easy to see !
a adult cougar will need to kill a large deer a week, thats a lot of carcas
Your right mate I'm not an expert but I have seen numerous big cats in their natural environment including lions cheetahs leapords lynx jaguar and mountain lion and if the footage is decent I don't think you need to be a big cat expert we all know the difference between a big moggy and a real predator .......
That's fair enough socks.I was under the impression that you haven't even seen a big cat in the wild apart from a zoo.
Be interesting to see what you think then.
I spent four months in Kenya and seen big cats on a daily basis and I've been to Canada and Belize numerous times and whils
Wild Cats are really hard to see in the wild, really illusive.so i can understand very few sightings ?
BUT there really easy to trap, so i find it hard to believe theres, not been any recorded captures here in the uk.

I found a antler once that was so fresh of the animal, you could still smell the beast. and the rossette was still red.I reckon a dog could find that.
the squirrels normally find em first.
heres a couple of pictures of a red and black fox i caught.in a lynx set in canada. I have also caught black wolves
the fox had a black face and a lot of black on his back, tail and legs
