  1. This little man defo has a natural talent and I told my mate they are more then welcome to come shooting with me, these boys are normal hyper active kids but I tell you what as soon as they was on the range they was good as gold, calm, mature and a pleasure to teach. My mate told me his birthday is coming up soon and if it's a sport he takes a liking to he would like to buy him his first rifle. So my next question is advise on a rifle, I thought the HW99s would be perfect but he struggled with it, could just about cock and load a HW77K but the rifle has some weight behind it. I did say to
  2. So I went to the range yesterday and took my mate and his two boys to the range for their first time to have a shoot. I let them choose what rifles they wanted to take between the HW77k, HW99S or the Rotex RM8. Both found the HW99s hard to cock with their short arms so the youngest (11) had the Rotex and the oldest (12) got the HW77k. i think the youngest was a little scarred of rifles as he seemed apprehensive but with a little coaching his confidence built up but what surprised me was how good my mates oldest boy was....shooting a springer. Sub 5p group at 27 yards with a 5 shot group th
  3. Great choice there mate and I love the new stocks, regarding tinkering with her, I got most of my info from the YouTube (geordie hunters tv, strip and tune a HW97) and when things didn't go to plan or I got stuck I asked the lads here for assistance. But TBH they are really easy to strip and re build.
  4. Work in progress mate, but I'm slowly learning the art, here are two different 5 shot groups I did at the weekend with my HW77K...rested I might add though.
  5. So now she has been re built I thought I would do a quick 10 shot string over the chrono. In another 500 pellets I'll re chrono her so I see roughly where she fires at. I must say I'm quite impressed with the consistency she's putting out already. I have put one power washer and the slip washer at the front of the piston so there will be a comparison to my first string. #1 747FPS 10.42ft/lb #2 752FPS 10.55ft/lb #3 745FPS 10.37ft/lb #4 745FPS 10.37ft/lb #5 747FPS 10.42ft/lb #6 747FPS 10.42ft/lb #7 745FPS 10.37ft/lb #8 751FPS 10.52ft/lb #9 752FPS 10.57ft/lb #10 752FPS 10.57ft/lb
  6. Them shims are the worst thing known to man, I'm quite heavy handed and they was a pain in the arse to sit perfectly, well done weihrauch for making the tolerance to perfection. Pain in the arse for me mind haha. She re built again and I am one happy man. I've fired a few test shots and I'm one happy man. I'm going to run some stings over the chrono now but I did 5 as soon as I put her back together and I was getting between 749 - 753FPS so I can't complain. I've only got into shooting 7months ago and I've stripped and polished and home tuned both of my springers and I think I love the ma
  7. Happy man again, just received a delivery today So just a case now of putting my barrel back on do some test shots to bed the spring in and then re chrono as I now have a slip washer and a power washer added so firstly want to see if power has increased also check to see if I get a harsher kick through the firing cycle.
  8. I put a power washer in her when I stripped her and a washer at the top hat end of the piston and check and she cocks, but because I only had one shim I only wanted to test if she would cock. Once the shims here is just a simple re build and chrono test
  9. Just went on chambers £5.71 delivered for a new shim...ordered.
  10. Cheers mate, it the option I'll have to go down, they are so delicate and I must have nicked it with my punch when I was aligning them. So anyone else stripping a break barrel with shims be extra careful with them. Cheers lads I'll order some today
  11. Yea I tried that before and it won't flatten, they are so delicate, It's on the inside rim the nick...
  12. Silly question time...I'm having problems getting both shims in place when connecting barrel pivot point. one of them has a slight nick and it's stopping both fitting it. I no it works with just one shim in, if I grease the side without a shim on will that be enough over time or will I have to order a new shim?
  13. I read up on the vortek piston seals and because I don't have a lathe I could have a problem re sizing it correctly, would that be correct?
  14. Wanna know what that needs now? Yes please mate a washer. Just one. 10.9 all day long. Beds in at 11.1-2. Job done. Then you can sell it. To me. Cheers mate, I plan to strip her at the weekend, I read about power problems in the .177 HW99 and adding washers caused them not to cock. While I have her in bits again I'll give it a try and post the results....10.8 - 11.2 was the range I was aiming for. When it comes to selling her you'll be my first pm
  15. Thought I would do a 10 shot string over the chrono and show what power she's putting out consistanly. #1 738FPS 10.16ft/lb #2 740FPS 10.21ft/lb #3 736FPS 10.11ft/lb #4 742FPS 10.29ft/lb #5 735FPS 10.09ft/lb #6 744FPS 10.32ft/lb #7 745FPS 10.34ft/lb #8 738FPS 10.16ft/lb #9 738FPS 10.16ft/lb #10 739FPS 10.19ft/lb So the lowest reading was 735FPS and the highest was745FPS so 10FPS max spread over 10 shots, so she's not shooting at max power but a level I'm more then happy with. Once the spring beds in I'm hoping she puts out a little bit more power but becomes slightly more cons
  16. ATM Ive stuck with the standard seal but in due course I'll be looking at replacing that as well as a barrel cut and thread.
  17. I have been able to fire some shots over the chrono, I realise the spring needs some pellets putting through before it beds in, but ATM I'm getting between 735 - 745 FPS what's about 10:30ft/lb. question is when I take it apart tonight to add the bits that's need adding. Do I put a power washer in or leave it as it is bearing in mind it's a .177 and could become jumpy??
  18. So I have put her back together tonight...when I say put her back together, she 98% complete, only noticed a shim had slipped out when screwing the barrel pin back in place.lol and the fecking little bolt that goes in the trigger has been a pain in the arse so will have to sort that out tomorrow now. I checked to see if she cocks and locks into place and took a few test shots and things seem ok. Just need to put that shim back in place and get the trigger guard screwed into place properly. I didn't put any power washer in, didn't bother with the metal piston sleeve either. I'll chrono her
  19. Have not updated this thread for some time now but today I have had a delivery that has made me very happy... So today I received my Welsh Willy drop in kit, with piston sleeve what surprised me as I never got one with my HW77 drop in kit. So in the coming days I'm going to put my rifle back together (hopefully with no cocking problems) then I'll bed the new spring in and finish of my review. 27days from order to delivery for the WW kits so no too bad and looking forward to getting her firing again. Fingers crossed I don't have power issues. I have also found a place that cut and thread
  20. I'm interested in how this thread pans out as I'm in the middle of playing with my 99s. Good luck mate
  21. Glad to see you passed on your previous options and put the HW100 top of your list. If it was me it would be KT (laminate) but what ever you go for mate your getting one of the best.
  22. Defo not too much lube, only sparingly put lube on internals. I havent had time to put her back together, maybe tonight or tomorrow after work I'll see if I can solve is problem. 2 more weeks to go and my WW kit should arrive
  23. If i was going to spend £600/£800 on a PCP im with jonjon79 and would get a HW100 but of the two your swung by i wud choose the daystate
  24. So i have had a few problems with the re build, nothing major and im gonna have to finish the re build tonight. Firstly i misplaced the little screw that goes into the trigger unit which is why i couldnt get the stock to screw back on. The second problem has been getting the rifle to cock, still not sure why it wouldnt so i have taken her apart and decided to start again. I did put a pre load washer in and thought that was the reason but it wasnt...if u have any ideas please share. I did fire the trigger so thats not the reason ATB
