im new to shooting and have taken it up as a hobby and I love it, I own a PCP what's a rotex rm8 and my springer what I love to bits, a weihrauch HW77k laminate stock and HW99s
I'm learning the art of shooting, how to home tune so you can get the best out of the rifles and this forum has helped with the knowledge available.
  1. This little man defo has a natural talent and I told my mate they are more then welcome to come shooting with me, these boys are normal hyper active kids but I tell you what as soon as they was on the range they was good as gold, calm, mature and a pleasure to teach. My mate told me his birthday is coming up soon and if it's a sport he takes a liking to he would like to buy him his first rifle. So my next question is advise on a rifle, I thought the HW99s would be perfect but he struggled with it, could just about cock and load a HW77K but the rifle has some weight behind it. I did say to
  2. So I went to the range yesterday and took my mate and his two boys to the range for their first time to have a shoot. I let them choose what rifles they wanted to take between the HW77k, HW99S or the Rotex RM8. Both found the HW99s hard to cock with their short arms so the youngest (11) had the Rotex and the oldest (12) got the HW77k. i think the youngest was a little scarred of rifles as he seemed apprehensive but with a little coaching his confidence built up but what surprised me was how good my mates oldest boy was....shooting a springer. Sub 5p group at 27 yards with a 5 shot group th
  3. Great choice there mate and I love the new stocks, regarding tinkering with her, I got most of my info from the YouTube (geordie hunters tv, strip and tune a HW97) and when things didn't go to plan or I got stuck I asked the lads here for assistance. But TBH they are really easy to strip and re build.
  4. Work in progress mate, but I'm slowly learning the art, here are two different 5 shot groups I did at the weekend with my HW77K...rested I might add though.
  5. So now she has been re built I thought I would do a quick 10 shot string over the chrono. In another 500 pellets I'll re chrono her so I see roughly where she fires at. I must say I'm quite impressed with the consistency she's putting out already. I have put one power washer and the slip washer at the front of the piston so there will be a comparison to my first string. #1 747FPS 10.42ft/lb #2 752FPS 10.55ft/lb #3 745FPS 10.37ft/lb #4 745FPS 10.37ft/lb #5 747FPS 10.42ft/lb #6 747FPS 10.42ft/lb #7 745FPS 10.37ft/lb #8 751FPS 10.52ft/lb #9 752FPS 10.57ft/lb #10 752FPS 10.57ft/lb
  6. Them shims are the worst thing known to man, I'm quite heavy handed and they was a pain in the arse to sit perfectly, well done weihrauch for making the tolerance to perfection. Pain in the arse for me mind haha. She re built again and I am one happy man. I've fired a few test shots and I'm one happy man. I'm going to run some stings over the chrono now but I did 5 as soon as I put her back together and I was getting between 749 - 753FPS so I can't complain. I've only got into shooting 7months ago and I've stripped and polished and home tuned both of my springers and I think I love the ma
  7. Happy man again, just received a delivery today So just a case now of putting my barrel back on do some test shots to bed the spring in and then re chrono as I now have a slip washer and a power washer added so firstly want to see if power has increased also check to see if I get a harsher kick through the firing cycle.
  8. I put a power washer in her when I stripped her and a washer at the top hat end of the piston and check and she cocks, but because I only had one shim I only wanted to test if she would cock. Once the shims here is just a simple re build and chrono test
  9. Just went on chambers £5.71 delivered for a new shim...ordered.
  10. Cheers mate, it the option I'll have to go down, they are so delicate and I must have nicked it with my punch when I was aligning them. So anyone else stripping a break barrel with shims be extra careful with them. Cheers lads I'll order some today
  11. Yea I tried that before and it won't flatten, they are so delicate, It's on the inside rim the nick...
  12. Silly question time...I'm having problems getting both shims in place when connecting barrel pivot point. one of them has a slight nick and it's stopping both fitting it. I no it works with just one shim in, if I grease the side without a shim on will that be enough over time or will I have to order a new shim?
  13. I read up on the vortek piston seals and because I don't have a lathe I could have a problem re sizing it correctly, would that be correct?
  14. Wanna know what that needs now? Yes please mate a washer. Just one. 10.9 all day long. Beds in at 11.1-2. Job done. Then you can sell it. To me. Cheers mate, I plan to strip her at the weekend, I read about power problems in the .177 HW99 and adding washers caused them not to cock. While I have her in bits again I'll give it a try and post the results....10.8 - 11.2 was the range I was aiming for. When it comes to selling her you'll be my first pm
