  5. Fair play Conor. Snipe are fantastic sport.
  6. I have a Sako 75 "Finnlight" in 6.5x55 for deer. Cracking rifle, you won't go wrong with a Sako. just make sure it's the right model for you. I love the Finnlight for it's lightweight, short barrel and all-weather practicality but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Had a great offer on the Deluxe model when I was getting the Finnlight, gorgeous piece of kit, lovely wood but I wanted something I wouldn't be worried about scratching in the field. Go for whatever you know you'll be happiest with mate, I firmly believe that you shoot better with a rifle you have confidence in and like. Spud
  7. Good stuff Conor That's a cracking rig you have there. Spud
  8. Nice pics WH,dogs look well tidy good on ye
  9. Haven't had a dog that opens up myself so no experience but it sounds like that could be the case. Is there terrier in her? The first thing I would do would be to put in plenty of fitness work with her in case she's opening up out of frustration at not being able to close the last bit of distance on a catch. Has she caught yet? Is she quiet the rest of the time? You should put a new thread up on this section of the forum asking what people think, there's plenty of experience on here, tap into it.
  10. Fair play sounder. That's a cracking outing you had there, good shooting that man
  11. Thanks Frank! What age is your bitch Steve and what age was she entered at?
  12. Cheers fellas. He's in good nick alright WorldHunters but i'm going to try to bring his weight up a bit over next few weeks. He's putting in some cracking runs and stamina work on the roads but feels just a tad "soft" in the muscle still. Spud
  13. Decidied at the last minute to have a quick shine last night. Not a breath of wind and dog was a bit tired from road-work i've been doing with him so just gave him two slips. Two cracking runs, he's coming along well and caught his 11th and 12th bunnies. Only out for an hour and two rabbits for the pot Spud
  14. Hehehe! God one John, if I spot one i'll set the Dogfish on him! I lived in Renvyle for years and still spend a lot of time near there for either diving jobs or deerstalking but live in Co Wexford now and am enjoying having plenty of bunnies around me for a change! Where abouts are ye yourself? Spud
  15. Cheers ProperJob, What spec is the one you have?
  16. Conor, Didn't get anything thurs night as a mad mist closed in on us, could only see about 5ft in front at one point. Took my missus fishing yesterday and afterwards she said she wanted to come out lamping. Went out just for an hour or so and got two catches after two cracking runs.
  17. Hi mate, i'm no sparky (electrics and water don't mix) but the lightforce lamps have to be connected to the correct terminals on the battery or the lamp won't work. When you put the wire on the wrong terminal you blow the fuse. Got myself a lightforce striker recently and cut off the cigar plug attched two clips and connect straight to a battery, no fuses, nothing to come loose while you're out. Skip all the fuse sh#te and just connect it straight to battery.
  18. Jazus that plenty of mag for the long shots anyway! Heading out for a lamp this evening myself, will leave the shooter though, just the hound after bunnies tonight i think.
  19. Good Stuff Conor, good to hear the foxes are getting dealt with. Like the look of your shooter, what scope is that?
