  1. Anyone using a BSA Scorpion T10 and how do you rate them? I'm looking for a synthetic stocked multi-shot PCP that i'll be using for shooting inside buildings (feral pigeons etc). Already have CZ 22rimfire for the bunnies a Finnlite 6.5x55 for the bigger stuff so this will be purely for pest control inside or around buildings. As i'm in the Republic an Air Rifle requires the same lengthy wait for a Firearms Cert so i want to make a good choice first time round and not have to change the thing too soon! Any advice appreciated, Spud
  2. Cracking stuff, have the books and dvd's, MEAT BOOK and FISH BOOK are excellent and well worth buying, postage can be steep from some places as both of them must weigh at least a Kilo each!
  3. He was a good one to cull as an older animal with an abnormal head making way for some of the younger stags in the area.
  4. CZ a good choice, use a CZ myself, will get one of the trigger kits at some stage but it's really accurate straight out of the box.
  5. Have a 22 and a 6.5 as well as a 12bore. Should be no problem once you can show a need for each.
  6. Cheers Frank, well pleased with the 6.5 alright, might get it threaded and a mod for next season though! Yes Vmax he was missing a brow tine and a tay tine. Had a small wound to his head as well, must have been a rough rut this season!
  7. Anyone use electric knife sharpeners like the "Chef's Choice" range? Think my diamond steel is on its last legs so need to get something new soon. Just wondering if anyone uses these or similar? Cheers Spud
  8. Cheers lads, Was planning on taking a nice tasty young hind alright VMax but when i saw the head on this fella i had to take him out of the gene pool. Here's a shot of the head from last stalk beside the latest one plus another phot from the hill yesterday.
  9. Will probably have turkey and all the rest for the day itself but will be having a session with a few like-minded headbangers shortly after Christmas. Plan to serve up rabbit satay in pittas as a brunch to start the day off. It will be washed down with a few types of homebrew (pilsner, lager and a pale ale). Then for dinner a big venison roast washed down with a few bottles of homemade red wine (each! :alcoholic: ) Spud
  10. Hi moletrapper, I'll be hanging on to the head alright. Had to joint him up on hill and backpack him out in a few trips. A lot heavier than the one I shot in same spot two weeks ago, see other thread. The rifle is a Sako Finnlite in 6.5x55swedish, photo not great cos it was driving rain and hail straight at me, some wind! Will get another pic up here later. Spud
  11. Yeah ClayMan i'd better start saving for one!!
  12. Back out after Reds yesterday morning. There was rain and sleet blowing horizontally so I didn't have too high hopes. Spotted this Stag with a few hinds, initially couldn't make out his head properly, only getting light. Thought he had a good head and was going to leave him and take a hind. Got a clear look at the head and reckoned he was a good one to cull. Took him at about 180yrds, turned and took a few strides before going down. Hinds legged it and two nice younger stags with what looked like good heads ran from other side of valley, swam the stream which was whitewater after the wild nigh
  13. Yeah he was a nice beast and yes it is west of Ireland. Just back from another trip and got another big stag. Will pop phots up on a seperate thread in a minute. Spud

  16. Used 223 on targets and used 243 on Chamois but never done any proper centrefire target stuff. Very interested in long-range target and fox and hope to do some with my 6.5x55 deer rifle during the off-season,. How do you rate the 22-250 as a fox gun?

    new boots

Recently got myself a pair of "Muck Boot Company" wellies. Dog's B#llocks! Savage comfy, warm and tough. Might be too warm for summer use but well pleased with them so far. If you search in the clothing/equipment section on here you should see a few threads on them.
  18. Was given one as a pressie last Christmas. Thought i'd only use it once in a blue moon but have to say I use it loads and it's a cracking piece of kit. All the points mentioned so far are spot on. Although the instructions might say otherwise I would always brown the meat in a pan first. Instead of using water I pour in a bottle of homebrew, preferably an ale not a larger. If you don't brew then Guinness is the cat's pyjamas in a stew, no stock or water, just a few pints of Uncle Arthur. Lovely!!

    Joke

Zubu is a little 10yr old orphan boy in Africa with only one arm and one leg. He has to cycle 7miles every day to the only source of clean drinking water on a bicycle with a buckled front wheel and no brakes. For a modest donation of just £5 you can download the video....it's f*****g hilarious!!!
