you could have a look in your area to see if theres a bird of prey centre that could do with a volunteer.. You'll learn lots & possibly get a contact for a mentor.

  4. Nice!! you wont be disappointed. Im extremely envious
  5. Without question mustwork although im slightly biased i see these dogs work most days theyre a credit to the breed and word amongst the dog world is 110% positive to this affix!!!! that with the help and advice les and lisa give you wont go wrong!!! I agree with you there Gary but lets not dismiss the fabulous Wiggmansburg line. Im biased obviously but they are superb, driven and good lookers too. Far to many wooly coated flat footed specimins about and its good these 2 kennels care about the look too as do the germans

    New Hawk

Really pleased for you Jason Kat
  7. The man who owns the one I posted told me it was meant to race but is only good for a short while then flags rapidly so they just kept it as a pet. Its a weird creature to watch run.. its dainty on its feet but moves like a walrus lol
  8. Amazing pics.. one whippet we board at work is very over muscled.. I wonder if its the same thing?
  9. I think sewing anything is probably restricted to hoodmakers and glove makers. I assume they'd use a waxed thread much like a saddler would although some hoods are made using dental floss. Anklets and jesses aren't sewn. Hope that helps

    falcon to the lure

Oh dear deano you obviously dont remember life before the internet when having your leg pulled was all the rage and people could have a giggle at your expense and everyone understood perfectly it was simply silliness. It wasnt you that was being ridiculed, it was the photo not matching the question.. It would have been a lot easier to have returned to your thread and said "Opps f****d up the photo guys n gals anyway has anyone any advice"? Perhaps you'd like to give a bit more detail on how you've been training the little falcon to turn back to you?

    falcon to the lure

Fascinating technique Graham Would you let the bird feed up on the whole leg? Ive clipped the wings of my pere/saker & that stopped the bugger flying off witht the booty! His fitness came from running through the grass after the lure lol He wears a little t-shirt too and batters it with his handbag
  12. Its really lovely I like the untreated one too
  13. My whippet/collie.. fast and clever. Seems to be way ahead of the game and is devious.

    question

Harris hawks go successfully well into their teens. My friend still hunts his mhh who is 17yrs old. Falcons again into their teens. Owls however vary on the size somewhat.. the larger the owl the longer it lives for. Its like all working animals though it depends on the upkeep of the animal over the years and the amount of batterings its taken on quarry and the odd scrape and cut etc.
  16. Would you use rubber in prefrence to astro turf then? No im an astro turf fan but its a bugger to get it fitting neatly on a bow whilst still allowing the ring to pass across smoothly without catching. Rubber is a tighter fit and ideally designed for a bow. For the feet I prefer Astro turf as it displaces weight better. Its all a bit Marmite lol love it/hate it!
  17. grr been searching everywhere for the link but somewhere not so very long ago there were replacement rubbers on ebay.. None seem to be there now but i'll keep my eyes open. I do what Millet does and use a tyre section or astro turf them at a push.
  18. I have a 3.0L Duty on an S plate and it runs like a dream and fuel wise about 25 ish but the parts can be expensive. This is a useful forum for Trooper knowledge and info http://www.itocuk.co.uk/forums/index.php?s...995053b620c95e1 This place is good for parts for most 4X4's at good prices, have used them a lot http://www.milneroffroad.com/default.asp
