  1. I do about the same as you other than using a bore snake, don't like them. I always use bore cleaner, most makes do a good job. I always pass an oily mop through the bore after cleaning. The rest of the metal work gets a wipe over with an oily cloth, I use the same cloth on all of my guns. That's about it.
  2. GORDON THE ROOSTER Trevor was in the fertilised egg business. He had several hundred young pullets and eight or ten roosters, whose job it was to fertilise the eggs. The farmer kept records, and any rooster that didn’t perform went into the soup pot and was replaced. That took an awful lot of his time so he bought a set of tiny bells and attached them to the roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so Trevor could tell from a distance which one was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells. The farmer's fa

  4. But if you go on that web site about Charlies it is stated that Mr Brush doesn't go on blood lust killing spree's, apparently Charlie Brush and his wife only take what the need to feed their little one's, and they on the site encourage us to feed the bas*ards. Well I like to feed Charlie's with high speed lead, evil bas*ards
  5. I have a Webley Tomahawk and absolutely love the gun, I have put at least twenty thousand pellets through it and it still shoots fine, I've never stripped it. As I now have my FAC and bought a rimfire I'm wondering about lifting the power of the Tomahawk to about 18ft/lb to serve as a in between gun. I seem to think I read somewhere that the inards of the standard Tomahawk are the same as the export model and it's just a matter of turning something round ie piston or guide etc, any ideas please. I'm asking cos I recon it's about time I gave the gun an overhaul and thought it would be an ide
  6. About the same as I get from my wife so I can understand the dog.
  7. Excellent advice. For ratting in such a close environment even a Maglite with a bit of red lens tape would serve you well.
  8. Mine was to get out and do more shooting, I've not broken my resolution yet New Year resolution tip....only make a resolution you REALLY want to keep
  9. Or save your self a lot of time and just go to http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/NoNewAirgunLaw/
  10. I know what you mean mate, I have a lot of land on my permissions that allow for me to do a bit of rough shooting, just a couple of pheasants now and then for my table. Just before last Christmas I was walking along a very long field, my trusty old side by side under my arm, it was a very nice day and I was really enjoying the peace and solitude when a cock pheasant got up just a few feet in front of me and I'm embarased to say it startled me and I was too late to take the shot The next bugger that day was'nt so lucky though
  11. Just a bit of advice mate, you'd be better off listing in the 'buy/sell/swap' area furhter down the home page. The other bit of advice is it's not a good idea to post your telephone number or email as anti's might just give you a bit of grief. If someone is interested in what you have you can always use the private message option to discuss. Good advice can he delete it somehow ?????????? Easy, just click on 'edit' and delete the phone number and email and click on submit. Job done

  13. Hello shottyscotty (like the name) have a look here mate http://www.gamebore.com/index.asp I'm not sure about your gun being suitable for steel shot, have you asked at your gun dealer (good one in Dingwall) I've recently gone through the same scenario, I have a Miroku MK38 3/4 and full fixed chokes, everyone tells me no more than half choke. I first tried steel shot at The Highland and Deephaven Clay Club, they performed very well and clays just turned to dust but I did notice an increase of recoil. I hope you don't mind me asking this but where on The Black Isle are you, love that

    youre job

Mechanic by day, pest controler by night.
  15. I've not heard of that one, why do you find it hard to use. I use a Wam Squeeler, it's not very loud but does a good job.
  16. Yep! spot on, air pistols are best for a bit of tin can shooting or target shooting or live trap dispatching. As much as I hate and loathe rats a clean kill is essential, squeelers and runners are to be avoided at all cost. Do the decent thing chaps and get a rifle for ratting.
  17. Ratting is such a pleasurable job and I more often than not do it for free. I’ve raised this question several times before but rats do seem to be getting bigger, like the one you mention, and tougher too!
  18. Tragic love triangle by the sound of it.
  19. I love Scottish Folk sung in Gaelic, sadly I don't understan Gaelic but it just sounds so nice.
  20. Compressors are available but for the average shooter they are beyond financial viability. A bottle is by far the cheaper option if you don't fancy a pump.

AVG for me, had Norton but it slowed my computer to a standstill, AVG is working great.
  22. Less hassle from the 'do gooders' at night. Hiya 'do gooders'
  23. Bad luck mate. Don't worry about next week when you go shooting with your friends, I'm sure they will help you.
