Aye no problem here maybe I'm wrong...i knew that when I started that conversation it would be taken up by lads who love their saluki lurchers...the lad put the post up had that dog for 2 years and it never showed an interest in wool before...I've said me piece on it so ill let it go there...atb
Here no problem each to their own. I was gifted a dog pup about ten years ago from a local fella who bred a litter of saluki lurchers. Long story short I reared it to about 12 months in which time I had it round sheep and it showed absolutely no interest in them. Anyway, I had it out at the start of the season put a hare up and he did ok the hare made cover and he went out of sight. When I got to him he was standing over a ram waiting on the mint sauce. I was telling the lad who bred them what happened he said the whole litter were the same...everyone can have their own opinion going by experi
Na been going on experience with salukis have seen 3 go for mutton, rip theyre throats out like good old professionals.have also seen loads that didn't. Truth is I don't trust them they've a mind of they're own when off the lead. I know people swear by them they're just not for me. We all entitled to our opinion.
A saluki doing a sheep...now theres a surprise...the truth is that Ireland ain't like England theres no sheep on the fens try a different cross lad...salukis were bred to tackle antelope if they loose a big rabbit and theres something handy they'll take it atb
Right lads and lassies been thinking about this for a while....been at the hunting game me whole life always loved it as the man says if its in your blood bla bla bla.. But I think I can break our people down to 3 categories...
No 1 the dog man that is full on...he doesn't fook about if the dogs no good or shows any weaknesses at all start again..move on
No 2 is the dog man who gets a half decent dog builds a reputation around it and milks it financially for what its worth..lies and all included...
No 3 is the dog owner that knows that its mutt has its faults but gets excited by
Probably right fella although many ferrets especially Hobs kill in the warren and you have to dig for them anyway....i was out for a walk one time with my Wheaton terrier along the coast line in co down Ireland. He was on the draw of something and I couldn't understand what it could be so close to the shore because he was up and down the rocks and stuff. It got to the stage where I was just going to find him put the cnt on a lead and force him home....up shot was he was trailing a mink and brought it back to me dead a lovely big black effort he was....totally gutted.. If I had of knew what the
Yea I know I was stating the obvious there but the point I was trying to make was, as a fella said earlier, would you not be better of with a straight half ? Would it not have the heartiness and brains plus a wee bit more boot ?
