Not a big fan of carverys or roast dinners tbh. When we had our last pub we did carvery every lunchtime and evening and all day at weekends.

Batter scraps. When I worked at an animal by products plant in the 80s our drivers used to collect used oil and sacks of batter scraps from chippy a to reprocess, they were pressed and the oil recovered.
Iirc we paid £1.50 for a spud bag full.

Used to be Stantons pop round our way, the depot was across the back field from us and we used to climb over and nick the empties and take them back for a couple of pence each.
Rag and bone man on a horse and cart used to sharpen knives and give the women sandwich stones to clean there front steps.
We had a milkman with a horse and cart till the mid 70s.

I'm in a similar position, got one at 4 and one coming up 15, dug the hole a year ago but she keeps plodding on, sometimes bouncing about, sometimes wandering aimlessly.
