Ive got an old side unit draw in one corner with sawdust in. And a plastic oil drum cut bottom off with a high back screwed to hutch also with saw dust in. I just pick out crap and wet dust when i feed them. FF

My mate brought a aa410 combo from them, with the 4-16×50 AO hawke eclipse. (Not keen on that model myself). They didnt have the stocked model he wanted so the GAVE him the walnut sporter version (upgrade) 2 things had gone wrong, the indexing and the magazine, at different times. They just sent him a new mag. And the indexing fault was fixed while he waited. The hard box in the combo is the same i think as daystates one, very robust. I think the only issue is with postage??? Me and my ferreting buddy got to our ground a bit early today, still dark, so we had a little wonder to the bottom of a horse field that the farmer said he had seen plenty of rabbits. We only saw 2 rabbits coming out from a shoots cover crop and into a warren in some bushes, so we netted up some obvious holes that wasnt to far under the bushes. It was quite hard to work out where the warren started and finished and another one started so we ended up netting about 50 yards of hedgerow. Plus putting out 50 yards of long nets on the opposite side of the hedge. In goes the ferret and

Ferret Season Stops???
Furrosious ferreter replied to Furrosious ferreter's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Cheers guys, The only trouble i have is no finder, so i have to rely on calling them out. It maybe luck or i like to think they like me but, they do come out, but ive heard of them finding a litter and eating down the hole and laying up. Most of the warrens i do are in open field but are on a steep incline so i would expect them to be deep and are into stoney sand. I have permission to shoot over the land too everything pesty so i can always use the air rifles, if i do feel its time to put ferrets away. I just love ferreting so much, its great. I dont know of many that ferret -
I think daystate work on a 3 year re-think and 6 year re-design method... I was thinking of saving up and getting the griffon... but i realised ive already got one in the regal. FF

This is my first season ferreting, and i have had to teach myself and use this forum for knowledge from all of you wonderful people. So my next question is... When does the season stop? Im thinking its different for different parts of the uk, as in when rabbits start breeding again. Common sense tells me that if i see little rabbits (kits or leveretts) out and about, or i catch a pregnant doe, then ferreting stops? Cheers in advance. FF

Hw77 25Mm Internals?
Furrosious ferreter replied to Furrosious ferreter's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Cheers guys... Id already done my 97 with a tbt drop in kit, spring and short stroke extension. As above post is what ill do no doubt. Had a good read through richard collets thread on here its great and really make me want to do some more tinkering to another rifle. What about barrel bend in these long rifles and the longer 97 (thats the model i have) but with 26 mm internals but a later serial number 1507... i did start a thread about it, but its a head scratcher for sure... Went out this morning, 7am start. Got the flask sorted first off deiced the repaired car, and got the ferrets and gear, and off to pick my ferreting buddy up. Got to the ground and tryed a warren we had been saving to ferret through the summer and had great hopes for it too. Always had lots of activity on it. Tryed to put purse nets in but the ground was rock solid, (any tips) i have plastic pegs... So put the longnets out, in goes the ferret and the flask comes out, ferrtes in for about 10 mins so i start thinking shes killed down there, so as i walk to the hole i put her in s

Horse Hoff Cuttings
Furrosious ferreter replied to David.evans's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
How do you make a fox attracted to hoof cuttings?, might be able to get some but might take a few weeks though. How much would you need? I dont shoot foxes just interested. FF -

A Poor Start But Good Finish...
Furrosious ferreter replied to Furrosious ferreter's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Yeah quite lucky really, our main fields have suffolk punch horses in them they are open fields too. Only stingers at the start of season, but they seem to have hung around for longer this year. We have hedgerows too inbetween the fields probably 15 meters deep/thick Full of blackthorn and brambles and the fern is dead but not died back yet, its still covering the ground. And i dont use a finder and collars as i cant afford one yet. So still abit worried of losing sight of the ferrets in the cover FF -
Had an early start this morning, up at 530. Kettle on, made the flask. Out the door with the ferrets and the nets. Car didnt start. Managed to bump start her down the road, squealling from drivers front after a mile down the road, brake pad down to the metal, bugger. Drove home got the missess car (a nice big 7 seater). Got my ferreting buddy, and set off to the permission (45 minutes away). Soon as we hit the road, rain rain and more rain. We got there and farmer said we could go into a new field we hadnt shot or ferreted before, so happy days. Farmer gave us directions to it.

My Hw77K Review And Future Plans
Furrosious ferreter replied to Richard Collett's topic in General Airgun Discussion
As for pellet testing for your 77, write down the batch numbers off the tin so you can try and match them in future. I got a really good batch of h&n ftt that grouped amazing out to 50 meters, do you think i could find more, Got some more h&n ftt to try completely different grouping patterns. I think it is to do with the dies they use and how old and worn they get. FF -
When Did You Get Your First Scope?
Furrosious ferreter replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in General Airgun Discussion
My mum and dad brought me my first gun when i was 14 in '98', cant remember what make it was, but it had these little sight things you could swap in the front sight. We have a family friend that had some land so i used to bike up the road and shoot cans and targets, with iron sights. I saved up and got a 3-9×40 smk (because there is one near me). For what seemed like ages. On the first trip out with it i took a mate, shooting cans at 10 meters, i ricoceted a pellet off a butler sink and it hit him in the leg, he told his dad i shot him, and my parents sold the gun. Bad times, i dont hav -

Hw97???
Furrosious ferreter replied to Furrosious ferreter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The link to bbs and mark 2 97... he says its a 1995 model but its level ended! Cant work out why mine be 2001 by serial no??? Like you say, early barrel late serial no. I dont think 'its a bitsa'. In the 77 stock it feels nice to hold and that i did the stippling not the best but good enough. (Done with 6" nail) but i had to add an inch of wood at the rear for a better trigger pull length. Hw97???
Furrosious ferreter replied to Furrosious ferreter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Yes, serial no is stamped on the barrell and is a hull cartridge... Before i tuned it, it did have the sqaure spring but i thought this might of been a ox spring? Do you think the silencer end has been swapped for an old mk1 possibly? FF The one in the youtube video looks like it says hw97k on top at about 39 seconds in (tell ccos it has 5 letters/numbers) Nothing looks like its been heated or replaced at the barrel to action or at the silencer undrr lever... It does shoot really nicely just a thud and clover leaf at 30 meters i think the only thing to tune it furthe -

Hw97???
Furrosious ferreter replied to Furrosious ferreter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Its saying hw97k on the top infront of the loading port. Its in a hw77 stock that i got cheap stripped the finish off and done the stippling myself. Not a slide on, if it is its bloody tight. Whats the serial of the other one in post #10? FF What is meant by shoddy conversion? -
Missed the 'H' out lol. Ive been out twice with mine bout 150 shots through it so far after getting new bands, shooting at 15 meters and im consistantly hitting an old kitchen draw. just got to bring it in abit tighter and be consistant at that then work out hold over points at longer ranges. Then im out for ferrals on my perm with it... but i will take the gun just in case. Good luck in your practice, remember to keep your anchor point (where you pull bands back to) and your stance the same every shot. And get good at one distance first with your reference or aim point. It wi
