    Yes. If I had known you could make a living doing this, I may have had to reconsider what I do. I love to hunt. (but I work 50 to 55 hours a week.) Initially it just wasn't all that available for me. Its still an expensive pastime if you don't have a place to hunt. Since we only get one buck a year, bow hunting can provide an easy 2 months of pursuit, hopefully culminating in success. I have much less time into it than most.     I've been interested in the Scorpyd. 440fps! http://www.scorpyd.com Most recent bow kill one week ago. 22 yards in the rut as he passed me. I used an older Bowtech Guardian 70# pull with Phantom 125gr. Muzzies. He went about 35 yards and was dead in 10 seconds. Had a shot at a bigger one the week before, but hit a branch on the way. Such is life. This one'll taste better.

    Much of the gun owning U.S. gets fired up on every election concerning our second amendment rights. States vary, and some have very strict laws concerning guns. Being "stranded" in the middle of the U.S. gives me some source of comfort. We have many rights, and am generally not concerned with them being eroded. I'm not into machine guns, or even wanting to open carry, but any little tiny infringement is viewed on by the gun masses as a potential cave in to their demands.     I sure hope I didn't kill this thread. I thought about raising the question of why the UK did not ever legalize bow hunting, but had googled up a target sight with a huge and somewhat quizzical argument against bow hunting and how cruel and inefficient it was for hunting. It probably is the future of hunting here in the U.S. It poses virtually no risk to neighbors, requires quite a bit of practice, and luck.     We all have out beginnings with hunting, -and bow hunting was no different or me. When I turned 14, the population of deer in Kansas was just getting to the point of being huntable. Remember all the wildlife belongs to the state you live in. We buy a license and a tag giving us the right to hunt a particular game animal. This right dissolves as soon as the tag expires. With bow hunting, the success rate is much less than rifle hunting. When I was 14, my father had shot a doe with his 30-30 the year before. He didn't draw a tag that year because he was ineligible.     For expedience sake, I am just getting an European mount. My house isn't really big enough for what I have up already. I did use a Steyr 30-06 with a moderator, which I had not used before. It definitely has its advantages. My impression is that after the dust has settled, we will probably go back at the end of July so I can get a couple of Roe, which is something I wanted to do this time.     Hello All! Finally back from my stalk, and it was a tremendous time. We flew over to Scotland and had about 8 days to take in sights.In that time I stalked my stag at the Straloch estate. I was picked up at Pitlochry by Stalker Johnny on the 7th. We had already eaten, so I was introduced to a couple of younger chaps. One was a temporary assistant, and one an understudy. He was only 18, had never stalked, and I believe he had never even shot a gun. Not sure how he decided to be a stalker! We started out in an Argo.     Thanks for the comments. I intend to keep you abreast. We even might film it, though I am a pure novice and even though we hunt quite a bit yearly, have never done anything like it. I'm lucky to document my hunts with a shot of the animal in the back of the pickup. This is my 16 year old. Got a nice 3 year old last year. I have not gotten him into bow hunting yet. Too much time commitment.

    Hello, I am new the site, and new to UK stalking, but hunt regularly here in the U.S. I have arranged a Red Stag stalk out of Pitlochry on the 10th, and have already paid my way, but have yet to hear about any of the particulars. I am familiar somewhat with the technique. I will follow a stalker around until he gets me in position to shoot a stag. I don't know what I'll be shooting (using his gun), the caliber used, or approximate distance. It will be a cull animal, so I'm guessing around 150# or more, perhaps a 243, 6.5x55, or 308, and somewhere around 200 yards. I've hunted with a

    Greetings all! Sitting around here hunting in my native state of Kansas, I was thinking about my upcoming trip to Pitlochery. I happened across this site and have been reading what I can about UK stalking. On the 10th of next month, I am going to attempt to stalk a smaller red stag. I am very excited, as I mainly hunt whitetail, bear, and elk, and of course hogs along with our smaller species.
