    Where I live, south of Sweden, most sets are very sandy. Just like jonesy wrote regarding running sand, I would if possible try to check the soil before releasing the terrier and if its running sand I normally will wait until its getting colder when the soil will bind better. In general we won’t have any trouble using a terrier in sandy soil if we look to bolt the fox with a terrier that only stays for short periods with the quarry but the problem occurs when you have a terrier that will stay until dug to and that doesn’t keep its retreat free from sand, these terriers will be buried if they d

    Somebody on here that know of any proper workers? Interested to bring in a pup to Sweden, need to be KC registered. I know a few guys on here that work BT’s but don’t know if you or any other of your friends are planning any litters. Please PM me if you have any advice. Cheers! /Fred

    Thanks fellows! Nice pics! Do you have KC-registered BT’s? Where I live there’s plenty of badgers so I spend most my time hunting badgers but now and then a fox gets in front of my terriers but that’s most common between dec-feb. How’s your BT’s staying power? I think most terriers have enough hardness but the majority lacks in prey drive and ability to work on their own for as long as it takes. Cheers!

    Hi all! It would be nice to have an update on working borders, I mean real work, not bushing and ratting etc. I work borders in Sweden on badger and fox. Hard to find decent workers but me and a couple of friends try to make the small percentage of the working ones to carry on. Please put a pic up if you have one. Cheers! /Fred

    I don't know buddy but if you're interested I can have a look among my friends if somebody can sell you one but it's probably complicated to import into UK, doesn't really matter which EU-nation you buy from as it’s normally more regulations to bring animals to an island than the other way around. Hope you find one; they are fine workers if you get the right stuff.

    Haha yes that’s probably true. I try to let the newbie’s borrow my shovel but I guess I have some kind of mental issue, can’t bare seeing things go too slow; presume patience is not my cup of tea

    Thanks for your answer and comments on working and BTs in the UK! I'm aware of the problem as we do have the same here in Sweden, probably 90% of the BTs are plain pets, 8% are used for gaming and 2% are used for terrier work. However I'm not really sure what you guys from the UK mean by proper work? Besides I’m not even sure if we use our terriers in the exact same way as you do? Those Swedes who cares about the breeds origin test their terriers on an artificial earth trial and those who use their terriers for work normally get the dogs proven on an earth trial during a actual hunt as we

    Hi all! I’m Swedish hunter who is quite new to working terriers and digging, this is just my second season. I currently have a Border along with me to hunt foxes and badgers here in Sweden. As I really enjoy this form of hunting I’m planning to buy additional one or two Border Terriers. Does anybody on this forum have any advice for me regarding where to buy a Border with good working lines in the UK? We do have some working Borders here in Sweden but no one pay any interest in introducing “new†working lines from the UK, i.e. most of them are as you all know show dogs and/or pets. T
