    Looking for two unrelated Bino kits this year, also interested in a LARGE line Sandy hob kit and a very dark poley jill ... I'm in the Devon area but can travel for the right kits. Thanks

    Pork is fine.... the reason for people saying No Pork are several.... old ways of keeping pork meant it went off quick so most of it was preserved which would be no good for them ... no salt! ie.. no bacon, Sausage, gammon, ham... The other reason for NOW adays people saying no pork is that some is bulked up with saline ( broth) ... injected into it... but then most meat .. ie chicken and beef ...in the supermarket is.. so if you're happy to feed chicken or any other supermarket meat.. you should have no problem with pork from the supermarket either

    you'll notice when your hobs come out of season pretty easily.. the smell goes .. the bits retract up into them and dont hang down so much any more and that oily musk on their coat disapears... my hobs usually come out late august early september and then are happy to live in the big groups again.

    the seal leg and sudden death sound like Osteodystrophy google it for more info a trip to the vet and an adjustment to their diet may save them. it can be corrected if caught in time.

    you generally get a ribbon or cup for best in show.. a good show will have ferret food as prizes for first place as well. haven't had to buy ferret food in ages lol... we feed mostly raw meat and suppliment with the dry when its too hot or the freezer is too empty...

    i show and work.. and got buckets and buckets of ribbons etc sitting in boxes lol nothin to it really.. just quality ferrets in good condition...

    at 3 weeks you can offer meat.. it might be best to either move them indoors or in with another jill as they'll need tending still. a bowl of ferret kibble soaked with boiling water and left to cool will turn into a good mush for them and if you add a lil extra water it will help keep them hydrated chicken and rabbit are easy to suck and chew as first foods especially if you mince it or chop it a bit so that they can get to the juicy bits. make sure they are toileting.. intil around 3 weeks the jill will be licking their bottoms to make them go.. usually as soon as they start eatin

    phantom usually lasts about 6 weeks.. the lenght of pregnancy.. then sorta fades away including the hormonal behavior... just give her time..

    from the pic i would def say she could be scraping the hair off in that hole.. especially if she's moulting funny with being in kit...

    If you're on benefits you can get help through the PDSA sometimes.. its worth asking about... goodluck at the vets

    as soon as they start eating real food they'll poo on their own ... at 3 weeks they are capable to starting food but need milk still as well.. kibble muish ( kibble soaked in hot water till its like watery porridge, chicken, rabbit anything at all like that.. you may need to tenderize it just a bit at first so they can get their lil teeth into it but they soon pick it up no problems. get some Lactol (available locally either feed store or pet store) mix it up with water and 3:1 with some cream syringe if you NEED to but they can learn to lap now keep them warm, good luck!

    some of my jills go through a funky moult just before birth they also pluck most of the hair off their feet and belly as well ...

    manipulating the belly can after about 4 weeks reveal lil bumps .. ie babies... this isn't a sure thing though ... some jills hide them quite well even in huge bellies! best way will be hearing squeeking in the nest i'm afraid Hope for the best and prepare for the worst...

    to avoid interfering when it isn't neccessary but keep me in the loop lol.. i installed a webcam into the nest box.. easy as anything to watch the nest then and it paid dividends when by day 45 my jill was extra tired to the point of lethargy upon watching her in the nest... Resulted in an emergency trip to the vet and her needing a C section.... could have lost the whole lot .... i could also keep an eye on her and the kits without poking around too much...

    had 1 litter this year... via C section of all things.... 6 born, 2 survived.. parents Sandy and poley... parents of each were sandy and poley... kits .. 2 albino jills lol

    you'd also know When! because of the possiblity of failure with a V Hob i'd be marking the calander with each.. so you can keep an eye on any phantom pregnancies that might not be so phantom!!

    ah yeap.. i'm in Heathfield... i've got a few people who are disapointed from my own waiting list as i only have a pair to rehome this year... let me know how many you have to rehome around week 6 or so ... and i'll see if they're still interested! Mind you the ones left on my list are pet homes...

    good to hear they are clear... with my kit .. one eye was fine and the other was gunky... just keep an eye on the lil guy should they seal up and get gunky...

    ahh found it.. its called.. OPHTHALMIA NEONATORUM basically conjunctivitis making the eyes open... the risk is reoccurance if they eyes seal back up and go untreated... drops from the vet will sort it

    This is most commonly from a bacterial infection very common in carnivore young. a build up of discharge builds under the eye lid causing it to split. You need to wipe his eyes very well and inspect the other side for puffiness.
