    The vet ended up taking the nail out but it never stopped him or slowed him up in any way with the quarry we were after at the time ?

    We didn’t take pictures when we were out I think the bitch is now living with lads mum on sofa she didn’t have any dog aggression at all which is strange for Wheaton cross in my experience

    One of best cover dogs I ever seen was a Wheaton x cocker my mate had accidental mating when it caught hold they never got away didn’t even need another dog to help finish it either ??

    I had what looked like same problem with my lurcher years ago it ended up been a large thorn down side of his nail was young and stupid then cost me almost 300 quid for it taking out and antibiotics ????

    I’ve seen plenty of fox only dogs nail ?in woods/cover won’t even chase rabbit deer hare there never gonna outrun the hounds

    I think if they were here someone would tree them with pack of hounds everyone got a camera phone now in there pocket or someone’s dogs would have found cubs but I’d love to be proved wrong

    Managed a couple hours after work yesterday had a few small perch a chub about 2 pounds and this little beauty speaking to a angler when got back to motor that targets perch in winter with prawns he showed me a decent photo of a brace he had in February of a 5lb 2 and a 4lb10 said it was biggest brace midfield had had this year out of calder

    My mate had one brindle bitch in his litter rest looked like beddy whippets she turned out tiny as well big strong rabbits used to pull her about but was a demon on ?

    No monsters but had quite a few from a new stretch of Calder I’ve started fishing

    If I get back in time from work I’m going to wharfe with little mepps and 9 ft spinning rod really a barbel scouting mission but should get plenty of perch chub maybe trout

    Had a hour on canal with leftover lobworms from few days ago getting loads of small perch couple about half pound then second to last cast got this nice one. All within a meter of bank tight up to a weedbed think something may have had a go at it not that long ago with marks on rear end

    Went to new stretch of wharfe about 2 miles drive from where I normally go For perch just fished rod’s on ledger with 2 lobworms on first 2 casts 2 small perch about half pound at most rod in edge slammed round with a barbel about 4 pound then 2 small chub a flatfish then got these 2 that’s my 40th barbel since rivers opened in June

    Just one decent bite today resulting in this one no barbel at all showing on river way to hot thinking a late evening session middle of next week

    I’ve had them rip fish of hook at thornwick bay before when reeling in I just pack up when it happens once they know your there and just hang around knowing they getting a easy meal

    My dad’s friend swear he saw one opposite side of river mile or so below harewood estate on a steep bank with patches of gorse dark in colour but that was early 80s I’d have still been in nappy’s then I’m almost 40 now would love to see one I’d have to see one to fully believe or see a pic of one can’t believe hound packs don’t tree them if not adults at least cubs

    A few places own the rights if it’s there land my dad’s mates cottage is on Ouse just below York his garden goes right to river bank not much there really of any size but he’s retired and loves to trot a float through his stretch plus people either side let him fish there bits as well so he probably got about 400 yards of river to himself I’m taking my mate to ullerskelf tomorrow afternoon for a few hours session after barbel he just got his Leeds book and came on his first match today he got 4lb 7 of chublets and perch I got fourth with 8 lb 12 of just perch couple over a pound but not spec

    No night fishing on any Leeds water but can fish till 11/12 at night they allowed it on couple of lakes but caught couple people who looked of the Eastern European persuasion ?taking fish to eat I’ve stayed on couple rivers till after midnight and never had any trouble but know almost all of bailiffs so nothing would be said
