  7. So everyone told me yeah you should try them because never catch a turtle !.......I've leard these are lies and apparently turtles like pine apple and strawberry ? O ok yeah...I totally didn't repair this rod already ? and this is why I buy $20 combos ? much less of a hear break when ( not if ) you breath them. Never had these problems with my solid fiberglass tipped rods though ? On the bright side their not able to swallow the hook on one of these deals so just had to do a little doctoring and he was good to go ? y'all don't tell Kens Deptuys I held the little guys up b
  8. Welp got out the house kinda late but was hoping for some action. No where locally really sells carp specific gear so I improvised. Wide gap #2 I think bait hook , 65# braid and a bass quick snap. Not super fancy but alot sneaker than what fish around here normally see ? Didn't have a bait needle either so I just straightened out a hook and used that, works pretty good And I haut use a piece of rubber band for a bait stop And my PVC rod pods doing their thing Seriously wish I knew about these bite alarms years ago ? so nice to be able to put them out and
  9. Just so y'all know farm pond snappers love bollies ??? and I specifically used them to avoid turtles ?
  10. Wait who said I wasn't ?!
  11. Six free running dogs and castle laws my friend. If somone wants to play stupid games they'll get stupid prizes. Might be getting torn up by dogs might buckshot in the rear who knows ??
  12. Why thank you ! I got it in a trade and figured it would be a nice wall hanger on a chunk of old fence post lol. But as far as the stop loss trap you talking about one of these ? Their actually still manufactured and used here but idk if they any better than just using a trap that catch higher up on the leg. As far as the long spring is just a sleepy creek #2dbls. It's one of the first trap I modified so I hung it up. That being said it is used by some int he manner your talking about
  13. Soooo I've been wanting to hit up a farm pond that I know has common and gras carp in it before work but I wanted to try something different. I already have a rod pod I made for my bite alarms so figured I might as well go all out and try to make some bollies lol. I have no real clue what I'm doing honestly, watched like three YouTube videos and spent like $10 on supplies so figured I'd post me bumbling along at 2 a.m trying to make some bollies. Hopefully the pros can give me some tips.....or I give someone a laugh or two , either or ?? So I was advised shredded wheat, high gluten flour,
  14. Closest thing I have to a tool shed is my car port and my gun room. I'm not foot at being super organized in a traditional sense but I think my little set up works. Basically every has either it's own general area or container. Rods go on the wall as matched pairs of possible heavy metal working stuff stays by the welding table. Lead melting stuff has it's corner ,trap cleaning suff has its side of the wall, trapping gear I may just need to grab ( drags , completed snares ,snare supports staked drivers ,cable extension cable stakes( all have their place on a rack. I have 5gal buckets with a o
  15. Well one more, dosent look it but this trap is pretty old , and my pride and joy of the collection. An original near mint condition US Government issue Victor 3N complete with the chain swivels dog knot stake and matching jaws ?? trap is probably at least 50years old and I keep saying I'll take it out at cat a coyote in it but idk looks too good gaurding my trapping video collection ? . The 3N is one of the most iconic traps over here . This make has probably killed more coyotes than any other trap . From my understanding it was built to spec by victor for trappers after they asked a bunch of
  16. Basically the set jaws of the actual trap hold that jaw open while it's set with the use of a second dog. When the trap is set you take the second dog out the safety notch like this . The second dog being the long but of rod on the left side. When the trap is fired the first set close letting the second dog come up and letting the second jaw fire. Can't quite remember the purpose of the second jaw though ? think it was either to knock the muskrat out or act as a second grip to alleviate any possible wrong outs. Not sure is have to ask some of the boys on my site on the tr
  17. Very very well written thank you! I've alot if that makes sense. Personally never cared to store bought bait fish. They seem to lack the natural fear that drives big fish nuts lol. Always try to keep a ultra light of extendable cane pole with me so I can catch bait on the spot. Alot if time sill have rods for big fish soaking and I'll be sitting around catching bait lol.
  18. I'm just saying I know guys who have doubled on fox and coyote in the same foothold. Like one had a front left foot in and another had a rear right, I'll have to see if j can find the picture ??
  19. Welllp figured y'all my enjoy one if my wall hangers. Pretty sure is a Victor sure grip
  20. Intresting figured it was something like that . Thank you for the explanation
  21. Has anyone been using these ? I usually just use crosman piranhas but looking at getting something a little more high quality. Hear they anchor critters better than most pellets but figured I'd ask
  22. So question. Any reason in perticular English legholds have static springs instead of ones that rotate like ours ? O noticed that and always been curious if there as a reason
