  1. Never been a fan of letting dogs to the end deed , tree em , bay em, hold em while I take the shot or pull out the knife, fine but watching a dog or pack of dogs finish off a critter ?? rabbits and the like are ok I guess but egh But that's just me ?
  2. I bet I'm simply saying their doing that in places with no pressure. If no one is after them then of course animals will usually be pretty bold , but like I said in areas where people are taking care of them ,popping them with suppressed .22lrs or high powered PCPs ( spoke to a few people who do this for cities and towns) in that case they will also adapt to be much more skittish.
  3. That looks more like a semi rotted down gut pile then anything honestly cat scat or any other large preators would have a lot more solid look along with visibal fur usually And sorry guys but I'm doubling this would be a Lion but we'll, this is an average adult Mt.lion.... Unless their just smaller or something.... Or an extremely small population egghhhhh
  4. True but depends on the city. I know places like LA Chicago ect where their not harassed they don't care but places like new Orleans where they have people "taking care of them" their much more skittish for obvious reasons
  5. With a large apex non native predator roaming around I'd really hope someone would be out to keep them in check or eradicate then before they become a real problem .. honestly what's to be lost with allowing a controlled season or a tag draw even if it becomes know these are a actual animal?
  6. So this is a rather interesting thing. Animals will adapt and change when put in different environment where different things happen, more or less food sources, habit ect. Possibly after a few generations what these cats could be have just simply adapted to the easy living in the UK ? Kinda like various preators living in now urban areas . Coyotes have been documented living in places like Chicago very well but their very raley seen they only target certain prey species ect. Fox would most likely stay very clear of any form of large cat , talk to many outdoors men hunters trappers e
  7. Side note, in the subject of bobcats, cool old pic that was posted in one of our trapping history pages on FB
  8. We'll haven't personally delt with any real big cat kills , mainly just finding trash piles of small game from bobcats, that being said though just looking at your pictures most of these don't really come off as cat kills the first one possibly something other then average but everything thing elese just looks like something a feral dog would to imo. That b info said since I'm not massive experts on the matter I did post this on my trapping form to see what the guys in cat country thought and here's one of their responses so far It's 10p.m here so should be more answers in the morning. Bu
  9. Small population, even here with our large population it's pretty rare to see a road killed bobcat. Even in places like Montana where they are literally over run with mountain lions you just pain to hear about many getting hit by cars. Mainly because their not stupid. A cat generally won't move if thinks you can see it, unless their super bold. So trying to cross a busy road Infront of a car just doesn't make a lot of sense. Combine that with a population of many what... 100 tops possibly? No to mention they would probably just cross at least frequented areas , under road culverts ect
  10. One more thing : range. Most big cats( smaller ones too) have very big ranges , usually, things can cause this to very, but generally that range wide. This can cause a HUGE problem for people trying to track the things . I've talked with guys who trap both bobcats and mountain lions along with reading a lot form a biologist for trapped large predators all over the world for scientific purposes. They all agree cats roam a lot. You see tracks it could be two weeks before a tom bob cat comes back though to that area . Guys in texas told me by the time you see a lion track on on ranch that
  11. So forgive me because I haven't gone though this whole thread but I headed to dabble heavily in cryptozoology and the whole UK big cat thing was something I gave some attention to. But here are my main questions Have there been any live stock kills or attacks where ethe animal has been bitten from the neck area ? Have kills been found where there was a deer sheep ect in a tree or burried ? In like a leaf litter pile ? Not even going to ask about a carcasses of this big cat because your never really find those regardless. Like seriously I've talked to guys who hunt mountai
  12. Honestly feel that that's a lot of people on here...
  13. Dont think bobcats and lynx count as legit "Big cats " honestly. That being said a small population could easily live in the UK failry undetected with y'all's lifestyle. Bobcats I mean. You can honestly be staring right at one in some semi thick stuff and most people will not notice them. Especially most urbanites. I mean hell mountain lions routinely roam and hunt in parks and suburbs in LA. A hand full of Bob's could easy get along in there UK especially with all the small game you guys have running around. That and your not going to find a cat kill unless you know damn well what your looki
  14. Nah got a few friends that will hand catch coyotes when taking them out traps ,I might do that, I'll hand catch grey fox all day, but cats ? Gonna need that catch pole ??
  15. Just treeing or or having the dog kill them too ?
  16. Depending on dog and the number of them, honestly one on one most dogs with get torn up pretty good by a bobcat on the ground if they manage to corner one. Just about every houndmen that runs cats ( bob's or mountain lion) uses a pack to tree them. That being said though a pack of 3-8 decent walkers or similar will make very quick work out of a bobcat. Mountain lion too. Reckon somthing like the bigger catch dog varieties would have might less trouble though.
  17. Bobcats are extremely easy to choke out, veins right under the skin or something like that, all o know if you not care you can kill one on a catch pole in less then 30sec if your not careful can't imagine bare handing one would be too much harder , I mean besides getting shredded bully those claws ?
  18. Will never understand why when there's 30 something other post going every day full of doom and gloom and all the bitching you could want, folk gotta come and bring all that shit to the one post trying to bring a little positivity. Like why ? What's the point ? Just go to one of the others and leave this one alone FFS ??
  19. Report to the police??.... Probably just off some road kill a crow or something dropped
  20. Some kinda K9. This out the UK ? If so I'd say a young fox. Nails look too thin and narrow for a dog imo. That being said though idk, dont remember seeing dew claws on any of the fox I've messed with ?
  21. For y'all who like detailed break downs and analysis type stuff highly recommend this guy's videos . And before someone says it yes their long as hell but there not really something you just sit down and stare at . More of a podcast, nice to listen to while doing other stuff
