Wolfdog91 replied to Wolfdog91's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I'll double that if he sticks his finger in its mouth and posts the picture There was a program on a few nights ago about fellas hunting in the American swamps - everything from frogs to snakes to alligators. I'd love to be able to do that Swamp People ? Yeah I'm about two hours from where a lot of that is lol ! -

Heavy Duty Cage Trap Step By Step Video

I made this and i figured some of you fellas across the pond would enjoy this. I think you can get hore pannel over there,or something similar. -
Just curious,do any of you guys collect urine or glands from fox or rabbit you catch or shoot ?
-
actually if you dispatch them properly they don't spray. I think a laugh shot will put them down without a spray. As for the smell a combo of hydrogen peroxide and dish soap will get the smell out .
-
Well actually I barely smell it any more lol ! A lot of the lure here use skunk quill in some from or another as a carrier. If you smelled some of the long distance call lures we have over here a lot of y'all might puke lol ! Not uncommon for people to be called up by the cops because the drug dog went crazy over a package of lures and bait.

I made a post Ali hike back about some cage traps I made with horse panel. Well put them out yesterday and endes go with this delighted Lil fellow this morning lol ! As you see he was able to pull a lot if trash into the trap with him and make himself comfortable! So much so even after a took the door off he refused to leave lol. So just left the door off and I guess he'll figure out how to get t out eventually. Really happy with my cages and happier I didn't get sprayed!

try backing it up into a bush or something where he can only see the opening. Next put some grass leaves, hay or what ever the ground is normaly covers with on the cage bottom so it looks more natural. Alsoid take some of feathers from a chicken or what ever and speed them around the entrance like something got murdered there lol. Regardless I doubut your just gonna get him on the first night. Especially with a cage. Now something you may find interesting is some observations for the old wolfers from over here. Wolfers, by the by ,is a term we use for the old government trappers who would go

10"wide 20" tall 36" long . And your right ! Now your fox over there are much bigger than the ones over here !I was talking to a trapper who moved to the UK for a spell and he said the red fox over there are more like small coyotes than large fox ! Their especially large around Wales from what I see. But cages over their are mainly used for Grey fox, bobcats, raccoon and possum. For animals like coyotes, red fox and such foot holds are preferred. The tall narrow cage is what's called the California Style . The principle is that animals would prefer to go through a tall narrow opening than a sho

I see cage trapping over there is pretty common so I figured I share this cage trap I made today out of 2x4" Horse panel . I made it like the California Style cat cages that are a favorite over this way.

Yeah I've noticed alot on here get pretty upset when it comes to footholds.
-
Well those foot snares go to my 6" Beliles (pretty sure I miss spelled that lol ) but it's a thrower that works like a regular foot hold but the snare is what holds the animal and the trap pops off after a short fight. I've been trying them for coyotes but haven't had much luck ,mainly because I keep leaving the safety on lol ! But there's also another method that alot of live market trapped use and that's leg snaring. Basically an extremely heavily loaded snare ( usually 5/65th 1X19 ) is placed in a trail only an inch or so off the ground to target the animal leg. But it's one of those thin

Got my second grey fox today. As you see this Lil male took the drag too some thick stuff and was basically just relaxing there when I pulled up. As you see no broke bones and he's pretty relaxed. He did have a nice on his paw that was bleeding a little but I suspect that was simply from some some of the thorn he bedded up in. Regardless he could've been set free and walked off no problem ! The land owner is actually gonna get this one mounted
-
Here they are ! Now they can out pretty good but due to the cold some of the paint didn't drip the way it should, also I didn't restive the paint the second day and it got a bit thick. But all and all pretty happy. As you see with this foot snare ,if you dulled your cable it costs very nicely. Can't say the same about cable right out the box

Recently got my Benjamin Maximus in .22 . It's probably 30 in my collection but my first PCP so I was curious what's the best way to clean the barrel ? Some say a pull through while others say a one piece fiberglass rod. Also is it OK to use Hoppes #9 solvent in my air rifles in general ? Thanks !

Not sure how trap treatment is commonly done for you guys but dye and wax, speed dip or FMJ are pretty common. However theirs a different way many do it ,is with a metal paint thinned out with paint thinner. I usually just spray paint mine but I'm trying this and so far all my traps are coming out nice. Basically you take a metal paint (Rustolum is the most common over here ) and thin it out 50/50 with paint thinner. Let your traps slightly rust, dip and let dry over night. I made 2gal for $51.00 and so far I've been able to dip around two dozen traps and barely use a 1/10th of way I made. The o

Possum in a Dp From yesterday. I actually dispatched this one ,had somone who wanted a the carcass . but as you can see zero damage to the arm and i could have released this fella no problem

Getting Traps From Usa Or Canada ....
Wolfdog91 replied to socks's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Word of advice : don't by trapping supplies from paces like cabales ,bass pro ,gander mountain . I your gonna order trapping supplies order from a trapping supply place . Other wise you'll get ripped off like crazy. Went to a gander mountain once and they were selling some cheap 7X7 3/32nd washer lock snares for $5 a pop ! -
Theirs a lot of videos over the that have night vision footage of animals in traps just saying , allows he hype about inhumane stress just isn't there. And you know we don't kill every thing we catch. Lots of animals et released with no harm at all. You can hop over to Trapperman.com and see it for your self. Just saying.

Need To See What You All Think
Wolfdog91 replied to kyboy44's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Kyboy44 you would look into foot snaring with passive snares. Theirs a few live market guys who use it for Fox and yotes. I k now one guys who's looking to start trying it with hogs. -
