Stopping The Wobbles
Michael J B Lancaster replied to Trevortwotone's topic in General Airgun Discussion
There's movement and there's whatever it is that my rifle does. I know it can't be held perfectly still. I'm stupid but not that stupid. The amount of play in mine though just isn't normal. Are you resting your hand on something soft, like a shooting bag, to dampen the movement? If you are, then you have early-stage Parkinson's disease, and should consult a medical professional. Doesn't matter what I rest on. Obviously more pronounced while standing but still bad enough while resting on something to warrant asking questions. -
Stopping The Wobbles

Even resting the rifle on something, I can't hold the bloody thing still. I'm not holding on for dear life and tensing, so what am I doing wrong apart from shaking like a dog having a poo? -
It's Getting A Bit Better Jimmy
Michael J B Lancaster replied to philpot's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Can definitely tell when things started going how you wanted. As others have said, keep going til the tightest group is your worst and almost unacceptable and then you're definitely on to a winner. Now if only I had the motivation to get out and do the same -
Yeah we did slowly move back to that range. That's why it took so long. I was going way overboard on the adjusting and I'm still a newbie myself so learning as I go. We'll get there, albeit slowly. Shame about the distance, would have loved to have met. She's not too bad. I'm still ahead but how long I don't know. She takes to this kind of stuff really quick. The HW100 would be the most expensive thing in the house, so that isn't happening any time soon haha. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll keep you all updated and thanks for the kind words

Here's a really quick video clip I took as well, she really does love it hah *Edited* Sorry wrong link hehe

Sorry for the thread necro but I figured I'd update rather than start a whole new thread. Thus meaning anyone who missed the initially can follow the story properly. I've finally gotten round to sorting the scope out on the rifle. A massive pain in the backside. The allen keys I have were imperial, so too small and too big. The recoil pin on the mounts wouldnt allow me to mount it without removing it. So I went and bought some imperial allen keys and sorted it out. I finally got round to buying some pellets for her as well. Ended up trying out some Remington Tyrant's, so hopefully they're

Bushcraft and Wild Camping are my guilty pleasures. Love getting out there with the kids, teaching them primitive skills and just generally enjoying the outdoors.

So You Think You,s Can Shoot A Springer
Michael J B Lancaster replied to bigmac 97kt's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Here's me with a 4x32 scope and wishing I could zoom in further, let alone revert to using iron sights. My vision is like the girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead. When its good, it's very very good and when it's bad, I'm Stevie Wonder. Props to you. -
Big Thanks To Bigmac 97Kt

Well done that man. Now you know what you're doing, no reason not to do it again and again and again, whenever she gets a little tatty. Something, something teach a man to fish... -
Could take the whole bloody forum there for a day trip and still have space to shoot safely...

This is brilliant! I've had a few of these moments myself, though not in the field sports disciplines. It's always worth it to have them on a bit. I love the "reveal". Always gotta have a couple pints riding on the outcome though, it's more fun that way.

Was purely because it was the first time looking down the sights at anything alive, let alone thinking about pulling the trigger. Had a sharp but very brief argument in my head and went for it. Don't think I could do it for sport but I thoroughly enjoyed doing it as a "job".

I wasn't sure I could actually pull the trigger with live quarry in my sights but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Struggled a little with the first one but after that it was second nature. They all got put to use as well, food and rabbit pelt pouches. You get those everywhere bud, armchair experts

Hopefully the pics are viewable. Getting to grips with this forums coding is a pain in the neck hah. The permission is for pest control, so yes, there are small rabbits but it's a stables who's horses are its income generator, so can't risk them breaking legs etc. I hope that doesn't anger anyone. http://imgur.com/UE7ib3q http://imgur.com/IAuRxB8 http://imgur.com/BueWKJL http://imgur.com/5hT12J7 http://imgur.com/AW2efUL http://imgur.com/pMHnjNK http://imgur.com/vRPeiZj

Ha your fecked Now how are you going to tell the wife that your just about to spend £700+ on a hw100  atvbmac  I'd have to sell the Mrs to afford one. Hmmm, that's given me an idea hah. Nah I'll be plodding along with my Remington until I win the lottery. I kinda like it, though it's a tad heavy to lug around all day. Either that or I'm a weakling.

Well today was a long, long day. It's drizzled all day so has been utterly miserable. We arrived before lunch and baited up around the stables for the rats. They're sneaky buggers and stayed well away from us all afternoon. A couple were spotted but were up in the rafters and not able to be dealt with safely. The rabbits are also, very, VERY wary and they were off as soon as they caught a glimpse of you. We did manage to get into range of a couple of rabbits and 3 of them duly fell. I got 2 of them. Humanely. I'm pretty chuffed. I do have some photos so I'll get them sorted out but it'

How so? Wish me luck! I'll need it.

I hear you on the more practice. In fact it was my friend that suggested I bring it, even if I just zero it to 30 ish and see what I'm like before taking a shot at anything living. At least then I'll get some longer range practice. I can't shoot any further at the moment as that's what I'm limited to. I tend to be a quick learner, so here's hoping I'm on the money with the practice shots. If I feel like I'm capable and my practice shots are good, I'll pick my opportunity very carefully. I'm not there to just shoot at everything that moves. I'm not even sure I could pull the trigger with live q

So, this time tomorrow, I'll have just gotten back from a days hunting with a friend. He's just added me to his local permission, all cleared with the owner and invited me along to get involved. This will be my first ever hunt. I've never shot a live quarry before, so not sure how I'll feel when or indeed IF I manage to land/take the shot. It's teaming with rabbits and has a good few rats in and around the stables. I'm going for the experience and to see whether or not I can get over the morality issues that are bouncing around in my head. We're doing it as pest and vermin control, rather than

Corn is over used, Care to explain that? It's pretty much the go to natural bait. Yes, and it is very, very successful. So how is it over used? Depends where you're fishing I guess. The places I've frequented over the last few years you'd be hard pressed to catch even a stockie on Corn. They seem wise to it. We have to be experimental and think outside the box. Just a personal observation and opinion, I do believe I'm entitled to share
