  1. I paid £99 for jabs for life due my pup. My vet said the third jab was optional as it for a new strain of lepto but as he is a ratter he must have it (makes sense). Also, this is a chain of vets, they gave me a credit card type card to prove I'd paid for jabs for life. If I had a more than one dog I could drive to the next nearest vet and get the other dog done there under the same name... but obviously that's very dishonest... lol
  2. My mate uses a staffie to rat. It normally just lurchs around the edges and picks up the pieces. Doesn't have a very good nose and it doesn't even really go looking for anything. To be honest the only catches it makes are after rats bolt and go near it. Definitely not quick off the mark, not very agile and can't climb stuff as quick as my small terrier. That being said a rat doesn't stand much of a chance if it gets near the jaws!
  3. Taz doesn't have a clue who I am, however I know of one of his pups from last year. Top draw and to be fair I assume he is just trying to sort someone out after being let down.
  4. You are close to me then Dan. Although I use the Stour for the bass in the salty end. Love all types of fishing, whether it be in the lake over the back of mine for carp or a two, the beach for cod or flatties or the boat in the river to try and get through the schooly bass to the bigger boys! For me though going off shore is the ultimate thrill. Can't beat catching sand eels on feathers then using them for bass half way to Belgium!
  5. Looks great fun mate, jealous of your permissions!
  6. Just checked traps. They were baited with corn... there he was, pretty sure same hog in the same trap!! Will baffle tomorrow!
  7. I've just reset a couple of them with corn and chick crumb in them. Saw a hog on my walk about near the compost, assume it's the same one. Hopefully he won't walk straight in! Will work out how best to baffle them tomorrow evening. I have some monarch traps out and a couple that I think are rabbit live traps (these are the ones that have the hogs in!).
  8. Thank you all for the replies. I will try with a grain in there and will try to make a baffle for the inside. I'm sure it is the same hog as its only ever in one trap at a time!
  9. might be worth a try. Don't want to obstruct the door shutting behind anything though. Ed
  10. Hi, Got some live traps for rats set around the place. Last couple of nights have been finding hedgehogs in there. I check them twice a day so just realise them with no harm done. Is there anything I can bait them with that will attract the rats but put off the hedgehogs? Thanks
  11. Hi Jok, First lot are hatching with no worries. Second lot have another 2 weeks to go. Ed
  12. Morton, what do you mean cleansed? Jok has given me plenty of advice and trying his method I have now got 15/16 eggs fertile. I haven't cleaned any of the eggs before putting them in the incubator, do you think this will cause issues? Ed
  13. Thank mate. Will keep a couple in with the cock and fingers crossed more will be fertile. I think I have been over thinking things and overlooking the obvious! Thank you for all your help, Ed
  14. Just candled them. Out of the 8 incubated only three are still alive. A couple are clear and a couple the yolks can be seen but no growth. The eggs are from different hens but the same cockerel, so he must be fertile. Bit confused now as this is a worse % return than previous!
  15. Thanks for the candler Jok. Top man and I will let you know how the little batch are doing when I get a chance later. Ed
  16. Exactly my thoughts mate. The old phrase 'don't let the b*****ds wear you down' springs to mind. Do well mate, Ed
  17. Surely only the weak can have beliefs forced on them?
  18. Why do you need rules? If the dog does the job does it matter what it is or what it looks like?
  19. Wonder why they removed you from the group welsh red?! Brilliant
