  1. wow FairPlay mate I'd be happy if I come back with nine squirrels after a wander with my air rifle let alone a catty, the only thing I'm not quite getting, is that ttf or ott are just styles of attaching the bands and not styles of fork, so did you go from a natural fork to a modern man made fork or have you just changed the way you attach your bands, I have naturals that fire both ttf or ott I can't quite decide which I prefer it's just different aiming styles and I seem to be able to go from one to the other without much problem ?.
  2. I also prefer naturals, main reason it does not hurt quite so much if you have to lob it or you lose it, as a life time catty shooter, I have always made my own, mostly from hazel forks, I have box,s of them drying in my garage at all times, I really like the look of some of these more modern forks but has anyone that's gone from shooting naturals,to these new super duper looking forks, found that it actually improved there accuracy and the amount you take home at the end of the day, equally has anyone gone from a natty to a new modern type fork and found they couldn't hit anything ? Genuine qu

  4. I think as you travel through life's colourful journey your opinion on that will change dramatically, I,m of an age now that I can't be arsed to try and put misinformed people right, or show youngsters the errors they are making, I now just sit quietly in the corner and laugh inwardly to myself at the amount of shite the latest group of new experts talk about, so I guess what I,m saying is that at certain stages of life we probably all qualify for the title of total messer, some grow on and learn and others spend there whole life flitting from one hobby to the next, still carrying the title wit
  5. in my younger days when hunting was considered normal and less frownd upon than it is today,I used to be out most days and everything was fair game and most of it had a price on its head, anything I was left with or had been bruised by hard mouthed dogs,so could,nt be sold to the local game dealer, went to the zoo, as most predictors need fur bone and feathers in there diet, they used to pay me 25p for a rabbit or squirrel, in the 1980s so I would think if you have a large surplus on a regular basis you could probably still strike up a deal if you have a zoo, wildlife park or raptor centre near
  6. that was what I thought I saw but I wanted to hear someone else say it, as it would be a real rarity around here, thanks for your reply
  7. Hello all I have an interest in birds but am by know means an expert, which is why I thought I would pitch my first query to you guys, I have been doing some work in a cottage on the outskirts of Bristol in the middle of a large wood, I have been finding a few wood pigeon kills on the ground behind the cottage, then the other day a large bird of prey came over the hedge and flew through the trees a few feet above the ground in a simular manner to a sparrow hawk, but this bird looked closer in size to a buzzard, was mostly reddish brown across its back with a blue/grey tail, I have had my trail
  8. I have been lurking around this site for quite sometime and as my user name suggests I am happy in the shadows, but I would really like to look at some of the photos I am unable to view as a mere spectator, so here I am, I'm the wrong side of 50 and have hunted and fished for most of my life, at the moment I own a collie x lurcher, a Russell or white Lakeland as some people like to say, and a 12 year old patterdale, I am more of a moocher than a died in the wool hunter, I also own an AA s400 pcp air rifle and a very highly tuned bsa Mercury from the 70s, I also love catapult hunting and have m
