anything named Fortean is named after a bloke called Henry fort I believe, he claimed that scientists were to quick to dismiss anything that fell outside the box or did,nt fit with there agenda so most things Fortean are about proving things that science refuses to except like big cats running loose in the uk, I believe his son or grandson still travels the world looking for animals that don't excist or are meant to be extinct, just to get the mystery going again what is this, I do know and will tell but interested to hear others points of view Looks like a puma to me it is mate excactly the

I have heard from a few that have mate and every story is the same the dogs run up won't engage and come running back tails down and act all clingy, the other thing with all the people that say I would shoot it course it or whatever is that it takes quite a bit for your brain to actually take in what you are seeing and normally you gather your thoughts after the encounter, it's all to fast to take in and process in a short time

Billy Connolly once said there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing and I tend to agree with him,

got the catty from a boot fair it had old tatty Thera band on it and all I did was put some Chinese tubes on it and the best part is only cost me £2 sweet, I do love a bargain, does the nut on the handle do anything or is it just to sit in the web of your hand? I have a natty with a massive knot in the same place and it sits in my hand a treat no it's the nut i shot the crow with I saw it ping off into the grass and went and picked it up I did think that but it looks attached to the fork, bargain catty, bargain shot even got your ammo back,

I thought you were wearing a camo jacket [/quote). I always hunt naked and often hide in ponds. You have to make a few sacrifices to be the best

and that has happened on quite a few occasions, the people that do surveys on deer numbers use thermal imaging to count the head of deer and they also get to see what else is in the woods which is how they know of the cats excistance, I put this picture in the other thread but this Lynx was in a keepers freezer when his house was raided by the police he was accused of shooting birds of prey which is why he was raided, he said it was in his pheasant pens so he shot it this was in England, if you or anyone else you know do ever bag one you can send me a PM and I will have it collected there wil

Help Me Understand Something About Buying Rifles In The Uk
Greyman replied to Wolfdog91's topic in General Talk
welcome to rip off Britain, if you think the price difference in guns is bad you should look at trainers, even the tobacco that we make in England is half the price 26 miles away in Europe -
I know mate but by the time my 12mm lead ball hit the fecker he'd had three kids and a grandchild so they are still plus three

Here is a picture of me getting ready just before I took the shot, if I,m being totally honest I was aiming for his mate but the wind was a bit stronger than I,d allowed for

that is a very good point and one of the reasons I started doing it, I need a photo like that for myself I pick up pug marks and pics of suspected kills so when the photo does finally come I will have a more complete picture I do also think that even though you have had a trail camera for 8 years they are still relatively new to the wider public and for a lot of people maintaining the cameras over long periods of time becomes to much of a chore and they end up left out with flat battery,s or thrown In a cupboard I,ve said before how many miles I walk changing sd cards and battery,s it,s time c

Good points, thanks for that! That scratches part of my equation. Is it possible that there could be illegal collections that circumvent the law? Over here a lot of states have strict rules on what can and can't be kept. A couple of years ago someone caught Pacu in a local pond! Different species, I know, but looking at what collectors will pay versus what inexperienced hobbyists have done to areas of environmental sensitivity, is not likely, possible, probable? What would you hypothesize for the general lack of mainstream evidence overall? I think rat attack,s account gives you part

Funnily enough I saw one along with 2 other guys when waiting with a terrierman for a hunt to come through near Cheltenham 11 years back. Scared the shit out of all of us, came through about 20 mins before the hounds and everything went quiet as it came through! Birds stopped chirping, rabbits shot in, it was weird! It went passed a 5 bar gate and the hounds took the same track so a size comparison was pretty obvious! All of us turned and said to each other DID YOU SEE THAT???? Never seen anything like it before or since but it was certainly a sandy puma type cat. it just don't seem right

Absolutely fascinating, it is! I edited the original post. I understand that not all offspring would be sterile but there would be an increase in sterile offspring between the species. I'm hypothesising that that a situation that has a limited gene-pool [exotic cats in the UK] would be further reduced [escaped/released into the wild] and then mating between the species [hybrids]. The further remote it gets the less the likelihood of it being a viable long term trend, surely? I have had several sets of Cubs sighted and reported to me this year so all is not lost, I think the populat

you explain so much better than me but I think we are on the same page

Wouldn't hybrids cause the population to drop, though? They would be sterile? the females are often fertile and every now and again a male will be but very rarely and I guess as a man if it's the difference of staying a virgin or shagging something a bit different we all would, I also think if there was a large population hybridisation would be detrimental but as we are talking a very small population just finding a mate is a big task a few hybrids won,t really hurt in the overall scheme of things, its all part of the mystery and the reason people like me wander round the countryside looking

If you are lamping on a proper stormy night walking into the wind the only thing the rabbit should see is the beam of light by the time it sees the dog it's over and as a lot of modern lampers seem to like driving through everything and anything in a 4x4 throwing dogs out at anything that moves I would find that more of a give away than the dogs colour, the only slight disadvantage I have found owning a white dog is if I,m being hunted myself he makes hiding a bit harder for me, but neither of us have had our collars felt yet plus I think he's quite a looker so I,m happy

. Being branded an old fart comes from slagging down something you,ve never done and people you have never met, not how you prefer to sleep or spend your spare time, I am also an old fart, but I will still give anything a go at least once before I decide if it,s shit or not, you should try it, it's quite funny to wake up with dicks drawn all over your face in permanent marker because the kids have got you so stoned the night before you passed out, I also enjoy a few nights in my bivvie waiting for a carp and being sensible with the older chaps, good and bad people don't wear a certain set of c

Most packs are Brocken to cats , they even keep them in the kennels by me (bad for PR) if they keep killing them . But you would have thought one might have broken cover and been spotted, maybe they are all up in the trees? But there are so many out at night with NV or lamping , I can't believe we haven't got one down yet . I makes me think they aren't out there. On the nv etc debate . I've read about that, drones, lampers etc but how many people actually own NV,thermal , drones in comparison to the size of the UK . If all these gadgets had been around for 50 years widespread and we were like no

I,ve said it before mate hybridisation is a real problem in cats this is a pumard, a leopar/puma hybrid that was bred for the wealthy in the early 1900,s ligers are quite common which is a lion tiger hybrid and there is a guy in the states that is trying to recreate the sabre tooth tiger through hybridisation and he recons he is one cross away, so with the low population in England hybrids are a very real issue hence a lot of the cat sightings here are a bit tough to ID because there is a strong possibility they are strange crosses, a common side effect of the puma leopard cross was dwarfism w
