Thanks guys, thats all I wanted to know! I normally hunt with 177 or 22. Cos of the movement of the heads during feedining I reckoned I need to shoot them in the body. Thats why I changed a barrel of a non_competition hobby rifle. Its in peoples gardens so its very short distances. At farmers grounds one of our heavilly tuned competion rifles will be used. We had that weihrauch hw85, brand new and wasnt usesed at all. It shoots sooooooooo smooth......its unbelievable. But when I did the penetration test I was really conserned it would not penetrate jackdaw or pigeon.

We have no power limit. Ive tested the rifle in different power settings. In around 12 foot pound the rifle shoots at its best. Its super smooth in 12 ftlbs. Super quiet and the rifle doesnt move. You said it should flatten them....... Do you mean it would eliminate them?

Ive got my hw85 rebarreled with a .25 Its about 17 joules...aprox 12 fpe. Will this be enough to peer trough their armoured wing and get to the heart and lung? At 17 meters the pellet will burry itself completely in peice of wood. The rifle will be used for short distance hunting in peoples' gardens. In .22 and 177 I sometimes get a heart/lung shot that doesnt drop them dead and they manage to getaway and die 10 minutes later. Headshot istn always possible cos they keep moving their heads while eating.

98 barrel does not fit an 85??????
dutchjozef replied to dutchjozef's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Barrel and cocking arm are expected to arrive today. Also included is a pivot rivet witch has to be hammered. Steve pope also send a removable pivot rivet. Might be smarter to wait till steve's item has arrivedd.....no hammer needed -

Hi lads. Maybe you can help me out. My new weihrauch barrel and the cockingarm need to be connected. Normally its done in the factory. Does anyone know where I can buy a non-weihrauch cockingarm pin? Im sure someone has come up with an elegant solution, instead of hammering the pin like it was a split pen. Preferably payed per paypal, as paying to the UK per banktransfer costs a lot from holland

I already did that. But thanks nevertheless. No response yet. But i myself was sure it should fit -
Hi lads. Maybe you can help me out. Ive got a new 177 hw85, and I want to put a .25 barrel on it. So I mailed sws (schneider in germany) with the question if the shrouded barrel from a 98 model would fit the 85. To my suprise they said it would NOT fit. To my knowledge the 85, 95 and 98 are identical of build...... exept of barrel lenght and stock. Id love to convert my 85 to an 85 with a schrouded barrel and with the ultra fat .25 cal. ___Does any of you know if sws is right? -- If so, I have to order a .25 hw95 barrel and put it on my 85. Hop

I missed something in them posts in guess, but why is it you dont have rifles anymore? And what were the last ones you sold...

Will do?

Good to hear people are willing to invest their time and effort in helping others. (Yes, 52 airking!)

Thats what im trying to say buddy, that expensive seal doesnt top the hw seal. If even the shop owner says so..... (he could make money selling me that vortek-seal.....instead knowing I have a lot hw seals at home...he said Id better fit my own hw seal) He said that a vortek kit with hw-seal has a 3 foot per second spread. But if your interested Ill do an extensive velocity report and also some target testing. But if the power is at least 10.5 I will not fitt them spacers

Boahhh....it was in terrible shape. You did a good job restoring it in its former glory. I can indeed inmagine they fought over the rifle. Is it an older 54 airking or is it a recoiling version?

I ordered a vortek kit for one of my hw97 rifles. It replaces the jozef-vmach kit in my 177 with the cs1000 stock. The stock and the cocking link made contact when ready to fire. I had some accuracy issues and I suspected that the stock touching the cocking link was the cause. So together with the installation of the vortek kit I also adressed the stock issue. I sanded and filed some wood off the inside of the stock. It took me about 30 minutes to get the job done. In about 50 shots I got only one flier. So I guess the accuracy problems are now gone! Vortek kit came with some ex

Living 100 meters off the german border can have its advantages. The next german gunsmith is a 15 minute bicycle ride from our house. He dough out this used diopter. I bought it for 50 euros. And I bought a new gadget: this unit has: 1: a variable iris opening 2: a build in .75 magnification 3: a build in dioptrin, so you dont need your glasses. Guess what....I Can See!!!!!! I can now see the pelletholes on the target card. (Yes, I have a pair of glasses, but I dont know where they are, Im too stubborn to wear them). Its a whole new world looking

For a beech stock..... It has quite nice grain and patterns. Its a shame that we have to treat the metal after we polished the action and barrel to the bone. That stainless steel look isnt bad at all.

Im impressed by the result you got on that 48-54 diana. From the pics on my telephone I cannot tell its been coldblued. Looks rather deep finish. Dont know how it looks real-life though. Ive done some parts with casey cold blue...... But that doesnt come close to your results. Guess Ive got to get my hands on that Hoppes too!

But I dont understand what went "wrong" with the blueing. Ive never seen it turning gray. But the gray can be given a swing the other way as a selling point: that gray is soooooo exclusive that its worth extra money
