I remember we also dug to a smart looking white Lakeland of his another time, forgot about that one (or was it a dream haha).

Me and him dug a B+T bitch of his, handy spot no problem, I took it home and tried it 30 mins and out, it went straight back to him.

I think the so called lakies 50 odd years ago were a different type to the ones around today, I was digging 30 odd year ago baker and I never seen any, also at the shows when I was a kid and never seen any well worked, unless the majority stayed up in the lakes and not in mackins yard haha.

I highly doubt the Lakelands of yesteryear where out and out digging dogs, and I can't see them being as good as the black dog of today, especially consistently wise anyway plus it's a different era now where info and access is key.

If I'm ever gifted a pup and breed off it, the first thing I do is offer them pick of litter nothing less, luckily I know good lads who Ive known a long time.

I don't know how long you have been into terriers RH or how many litters you've bred but I can assure you there are plenty of so called c**ts out there who never return the favour when gifted a pup, but when someone says to me this or that lad never offered me anything out of the pup they gifted, that's when things go downhill, so me personally I never "expect" anything and when I do that's when you know lads are decent.

My opinion is that anyone who gifts a pup to someone and "expects" something in return in the future shouldn't be gifting at all. Sorry if I've gone off thread.

We can sit back smoke fags pour a brew and tell him he's doing it all wrong, I'll bring my 1m x 1m x 1m wooden frame I got made up, I seen them at the shows I take it digging with me all the time so I know I'm doing it right. ?
