  1. Nice drawing that mate, what was the dog like? Worth taking the time to draw a picture of? ?
  2. If your brother in laws coming over does that mean the anti is your sister or have I got this wrong? If so I'd pts mate?
  3. You got a pure saluki already in mind for the bitch mate? Pm if you prefer
  4. Like the liver nose on the collie x Simon whiteheads one looks similar
  5. Nothing is ever needed there is no need for all the different lines of bull x when a good one of any line will do the job but I would like to know what's in my lurcher, lots of these line bred bull greys have forgotten the ancestry of the pits used probably weren't even game bred pits but they still do the job but I bet they could do it as good if not better with better blood in them
  6. Let's not get away from the fact that probably over 50 percent of lurchers have a good chunk of greyhound in them, what would any first x be like if we didn't have the greyhound? They must be half decent or we still wouldn't be using them to breed lurchers over pure salukis or deerhounds
  7. I think your getting him confused with bill mate
  8. Noo slip the f****r see if it will quit
  9. That wouldn't be true mate race dogs get injured just as much as coursing dogs, dame to my pup was retired too brood as a young bitch because of a leg injury I take my bitch over all types of terrain since day 1 too toughen the tendons around her feet and teach her to watch where she is going so far she hasn't had any injuries
  10. Anyone any pictures of working greyhounds past or present? Soon as this bitch gets tracking and retrieving I'll post a few days out hopefully
  11. Some dogs are just a dead end when it comes to producing but in general a game dog bred to another game dog will give you some game dogs not all game but some. Same as cold bitches and cur dogs have produced champions in a sport far harder than our own.
  12. Don't know why that first empty quote is there
  13. I agree if you breed game terrier blood wether it bull or Wheaten to a greyhound that's soft you will still get some hard dogs but if you breed from a game greyhound and a gamedog in theory you should produce a litter with a bigger percentage of game dogs which is what we are all trying to do when we breed, I'm sure there is greyhounds that were untested that produced game dogs, but I personally couldn't find it in me to breed from a complete cur whatever breed it was.
  14. Take a kettle with ya lad thaw out the grass ??
  15. To be honest if it's a rabbit dog you want a lurcher of poor breeding will catch them
  16. People these days ayy, plenty more out there mate so I wasn't right fussed I got a few dogs on at the minute got plenty room and work for more tho
  17. No mate she was due to come over I sent deposit and the geeza sent my deposit back as he sold her to someone closer, can't blame him tho really I guess it's more convenient to sell it in your own country than send it elsewhere, I'm always browsing the greyhound data and if another one that took my fancy came up I would take it.
  18. Yeah mate I wouldn't ever breed anything to anything average, I'm in two minds wether to buy another in to hopefully have better chance of getting a real good one, could've had one the other day big 30 tts white fawn one but it was a dog and I'm just after good bitches
  19. I'm surprised greyhounds are not more common for working lots of the country is arable and assuming your not after rabbits 3 runs on bigger things is enough for most
  20. Majority are bred in ireland but it's no bother to send them over, about 150 for everything passport transport the lot. Well bred ones are sometimes a bit too much for what most lurcher people are willing to pay
  21. If it's just rabbits and you want something collieish I'd call Hancock for a 1/4 collie grey bitch, assuming you don't expect it to take anything more challenging
  22. You only need to look at a picture of a racing grey and a coursing bred one completely different shape much more heavily muscled the coursing bred, my bitches dame was 28 and 82 pound her sire was 29 and 94, it's mad how so many people want to breed but hardly any (i know a few who have) take the time to find and try to rear a good working greyhound to breed lurchers
  23. The plan is to work her and if she'll kill foxes and stays sound physically for a few seasons then I will retire her and breed a few litters out of her to a proper stock bull then back to her best son, but if she's got no balls she won't just be given a pass because she's a greyhound, I haven't worked a adult of either type but have spoke to people who have (both types) a good one of both types will kill foxes but physically the coursing bred greyhound is much bigger and heavier set and can reach 100+ you wont see many if any racers past 80-85 pound
