i use a 243 remmi with a norma 58gr bullet, the distance was 337yards, i was out on bale of straw with the pod , i was real comfortable. i dont normally take them at that distance , he thought he was safe at that distance , we had seen him in the same spot 3 times on previous nights out lamping and he would not come to the call. so on that occasion i got onto the bale of straw and decided to take the shot , he was in a good safe position with a straw stack behind him .

wag replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
we have just picked up some new ground and have been lamping it with the farmer it has not had any vermin control done on it for a good few years ,the first night out we shot 14 foxes , second night 7 foxes third night we shot 17 but this is just a one off getting this amount because its a new farm .. on a normal nights lamping we could get up 5 a night after harvest but then it goes down to about 2 to 3 a night but that doing 7 different farmes each night we go out .. rabbits we get up into the mid 40s to 50s a night, we never do both in a night, its either fox or rabbit we go f -

Fox shooting i love all these pictures
wag replied to hiluxmk3's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
This is the reason every shooter should have a dog to retrive the fox instead of blowing its leg off with a crap shot and it getting away down the dyke or bush whatever! i know most use a dog when shooting but if you dont then bare in mind if you done a crap shot like so the dog can always fininsh it off,and sent the fox if it makes any cover. who is to say that the foxes leg was blown off as you put it , the fox could have been born like that , or it could of got caught in a combine when harvesting , i have seen it happen but it could have happend a number of different ways ... . -
